Question

can't view php when I hit F12 in dreamweaver

I am trying to create a new site in DW 8 to view PHP pages. When I try to view files that are located in the root folder G:/xampp/htdocs/ I don't have a problem, but when I try to a site that is located in a subfolder my computer treats it as if I were trying to download a file. Now I also have the Rapid PHP text editor on my machine. When I try to view the same files in Rapid PHP I don't have a problem. So somehow I am not setting up the site correctly.

My folder is located at:
G:/xampp/htdocs/1purpose_bethel/

I set the local root folder to the above location
I am set up so that all files work from the root folder
My http address is: http://127.0.0.1/1purpose_bethel/

My testing server folder is: G:\xampp\htdocs\1purpose_bethel\
the URL is: http://localhost/1purpose_bethel/

This should be correct, but for some reason I can't view a file. When I try to, I get a download popup window, that asks me if I want to open the file, or download it. I choose open and the computer can't open the file. It just cycles and the popup open window appears again.

I know that this is a dreamweaver problem because I can view the same file in Rapid PHP.

Can you advise?

Kevin

What do you get when you browse to http://localhost?

It sounds like Apache/PHP is not running.

Both apache and mysql are running according to xampp control panel.
I can view the php home page when I view http://localhost/.
I can also view a test file I created in htdocs a.k.a localhost called index1.php when I set the site up.
I just can't view subfolders for some reason.

Any ideas?
