Guest
Mar 01, 2009 Mar 01, 2009
Having a problem in CS4 when I want to copy and paste things in my stylesheet.
Whenever I do ctrl +c to select a something the whole stylesheet gets selected. And that is not what I want.
Even is I want to copy something from an other css into the css I am working on it won't do the job.

Anyone having the same problem and found a solution?

Forgive me as I'm new to DW CS4, but I may have a solution.  I encountered the css copy problem as well, but I turned off (unchecked) "Enable Related Files" (Edit -> Preferences -> General -> Document Options -> Enable Related Files).  I had to restart Dreamweaver, but this seems to have fixed the bug.

I've never used the "Enable Related Files" feature, so it's not a big deal to me - much less of a big deal than not being able to copy and paste.  At least it seems to be a stable work around to t

Actually, Paste Special only seems to work when I paste from another application, not from within DW.

I actually found a better solution for this - at least for my situation. I had been getting an error continually popup that read: The following translators were not loaded due to errors: Server Model SSI.htm: has configuration information that is invalid.

I did a search to see how to clear that message and found this blog: http://sachinkraj.wordpress.com/2009/04/01/fix-server-model-ssihtm-error-in-dreamweaver-cs4/

Once I followed the steps here, it cleared the error message and fixed my copy/paste/undo problem. Needless to say, I'm very happy to get this all back - especially Undo!!

Although this post is marked as "Answered" doing the fix as outlined in the last post does not fix the issue (only took me seconds to have issue re-appear again)

Anyone know when Adobe is going to fix this show stopper bug (I see there is still no update for Dreamweaver CS4 available).

This (and another Fireworks load issue related to fonts) is just going to make it harder for me to look at future Adobe products.  Definitely slip in their Quality Assurance for this release.

I agree, please "unanswer" this post.  The fix doesn't work, and even if it did it's a terrible work around.  Related files are wonderful.

I have this bug on both my laptop and my desktop, in multiple operating systems.  So it's not a bug specific to the hardware or software.  It just makes css files very annoying to edit.  I have to remember to type a letter and then delete it before I copy or paste.  If I don't remember I have to hit ctrl+z and then I get very frustrated since I have to dig through my css file again to find where i was.

This bug has existed for a long time.  Surely the fact that it only does this for css files should allow you to find a quick fix for it and push it out through adobe update.

Hello ,

Ik experience the same problem in CSS, but also in php code en htmlcode. This is a terrible way to work with. I'm astonished that Adobe still has no repair for it. I payed an lot of money for this product and then you get this terrible bug. So many people reacting now on this issue, and still they say it's not a  regular bug. I can't sell that to my clients!!!!

I found myself a way:

In Codeview I type a RETURN at the start  and the end of the codeblock that I want to copy. Mostly It works then. Ridicules, don't you think?

It started happening to me in PHP as well, however If I close the program and open it again, normally it goes away for awhile.  Though when it comes back it seems to be because of interaction with CSS.

I would go back to old version of software except my company does not have a license for it.  So I am stuck with CS4 until a big fix is created.

Nearly one month since flagging this issue as NOT ANSWERED, and with others posting in agreeance, can someone who has the rights mark this thread as not answered.

Come on Adobe, this is the third in your list of "Popular Discussions" for Dreamweaver and you don't have a fix!

Hello,

I opened a new case on my account at the adobe support portal. Maybe it works this way to reopen the discussion.

Not sure if this has been solved yet or not... but I had been having the same issue, and called tech support (never saw the thread)... no help there... but I figured it had to be a prefs issue - it always is with these designer programs.

Anyway, I found an article to throw away prefs... not it.

Throw away the user config. that does it.

7. Re-create the Dreamweaver User Configuration folder.

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405911.html

So, it worked like a charm... until today. I realized, after working at home on Friday that my usual upload window wasn't open so, I switched the layout to dual screen. And about 7hrs later of heavy dreamweavering... it starts doing it again... 3 mo nothing. After tugging on my hair a bit... threw the config folder away... again. Worked like a charm.

The dual monitor layout and css windows hate eachother.... but config folder re-creating ... helps to bridge the gap of hatred.. at least till I switch it back to dual monitors. Hope this helps... no idea if anyone else has done, this -- but try it... takes a min to find the folder... thats it.

GOOD LUCK! After dealing with that crap work around for a while.... this is a sigh of relief!

Happy Cssing.

Megatouch,

I have done this and it will return after a while, say a few hours once

again. I even would switch to single screen mode and it would stop for about

a day and then wham here it comes again. I just want Adobe to give

recognition that it is a problem and let us know what to do. Huh, think that

is going to happen???

Hello Steve

I placed a few support tickets at Adobe on this issue. They cannot reproduce the problem and after a while they put a status "resolved" on the ticket.

Professional support , ain't it?

Maybe we have to publish this problem on different developer sites with mentioning Adobes's behaviour on this case. This would never happen in the days of Macromedia.

same issues in all code view regardless of file type.  CSS, CFM, PHP, HTML, etc...

the only workaround i have found is to tap the Alt key sometimes 1 time or 3 times after I have selected something.

then the selection turns gray from blue and what you copy is what you paste, of course you have to tap the Alt key before you paster or you will get unexpected paste results.

what a workflow disruptor, I curse it so much, co-workers think I have Turrettes Syndrome.

and please change this so it is not marked as answered, it isn't and it is enough of an annoyance, I am looking for/at other IDEs

i am surprised that there isn't much more uproar about this than there is...

I am still having this problem.

I don't see the issue answered in this thread.

Has the thread moved elsewhere?

Does anyone have a solution?

With this post not being unmarked as answered I've started a new thread at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/496022?tstart=0

Hopefully we can get a solution from this.

keraweb, if you have a solution from "adobe support portal" can you please reply to the other (unanswered at this stage) discussion thread.  Thanks.

Hi Glen,

Adobe forums is unreachable today. Screen stays blank.

I've been emailing with a adobe programmer on this issue, made a new support

ticket and I've send some files to the guy. I've made clear that many are

suffering from this bug and it's annoying me a lot.

So they are trying now to get the same problems appearing on their systems.

We all should make new tickets in the support portal. Maybe they wake up and

find out it's a serious thing.

Having a problem in CS4 when I want to copy and paste things

Even is I want to copy something from an other css into the

Anyone having the same problem and found a solution?

I have been researching this problem.

Description:

Opening a file in Code View after the Code Inspector has been opened during the current DW session causes blocks of content to be auto-selected when navigating file using keyboard or copying. Closing the Code Inspector does not solve problem because DW keeps it open in memory until DW is shutdown.

Workaround:

Change selection to another panel or document, and then back to Code View.

Note that closing and re-opening the original page causes the problem again.

Hope this helps,

Really, is that all we are going to get from Dreamweaver staff? Users

have already identified that workaround. They want the problem

actually fixed by Adobe. Why won't you fix it?

Of course, at this point it is past time for all of us to bite the

bullet and move to Eclipse.

Hello

I gave up.

I had two tickets going on. It seems they will not solve the problem.

I turned over to Classic mode and until now it works.

So Adobe reacted that de problem was solved. Can you imagine that??

So forget all the extra stuff, undress the program and Adobe thinks the problem is solved

And this is not the only issue in CS4

Adobe Doesn't Do anything more than closing the cases. Working in classic mode without the CS4 extra's was my solution. Adobe thought that was sufficient and closed my case. I gave up after starting 3 cases at Adobe. They say they cannot reproduce the bug. Even after so many complaints from different people about that issue.

i got a fix!

i stop using dreaweaver for good. go for another cheaper but no bug software. as for me i use topstyle instead! no more probelm now. so happy.

thank for adobe's buggy heavy and overprice dw cs4 that push me hard enought to finally leave it for good.

when people pay a lot for a profressional level product, people expect to get a bug free or quick bug fix product that live up to it price. so far dw cs4 proof it isn't up to that level for me.

Well here it is February 26, 2010 and this issue is still here. Original POST June 2009???????? ADOBE, when are you going to take care of this, as others, I have spent a tremendous amount of money for your products and I know my clients if they paid as much as I have for a product they would not tolerate this to this degree and most certainly not for this amount of time.  If you sell a product and it costs this much, FIX the problem.  What is the issue ADOBE?  PLEASE FIX THIS..  We are all very tired and just plain fed up with a product that has this bug.  I have worked in almost every file format it can handle and it does the same thing no matter what file you are in.  One of the replies said that you can close the program and it will go away for awhile, well, DUH this is a clipboard caching issue I would say or perhaps a copy and paste pre-cache issue. I have been a loyal customer for so many years and have pushed your products everywhere I go for a very long time and I am embarrased when I have to deal with this in front of the contracting company... ADOBE, this leaves a very bad taste in everyone's mouth..
