I have an old site in dreamweaver that has a .swf slide show on an opening page.
Is possible to convert it to a file and replace the .swf so that it plays?
Novice here, thanks for any help!!!

Nope. Flash Player was discontinued in 2020. There's no way to play SWF files anymore. It's a dead technology.
If you have the original image files (bmp, jpg, png), you can use plain vanilla JavaScript to create a slideshow, no fancy players or special add-ons needed. Any browser can view them.
If you don't have the orignal image files, you'll need to create new ones or buy some royalty free images from Adobe Stock. Stock has 160 million assets in inventory.
