I cannot connect via my remote connection

I am a cc member runing Dreamweaver version 20.1 on Windows 10. I cannot connect to my remote server.

In Site>Servers>

My Basic setting are:

Server Name: 67.20.76.89

Connect using: FTP

FTP Address: 67.20.76.89

Username: jpalikco

Password: (the correct password is entered)

Root Directory: /home4/jpalikco

Web URL: http://jpalik.com

 

When running Test, the error message says: "An FTP error occurred - cannot ope server folder /home4/jpalikco/. Access denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem.

 

I can connect useing FileZilla using the same settings as above. I have spent more that two hours with my hosting provider and they have confirmed that all the settings are correct.

Hi Jim,

To add to what Ben said, try changing your web URL to HTTPS instead of non-secure HTTP.

Hi Nancy,

Thank you for your help. It turned out to be two problems.

1. The https was one of the problems.

2. The second problem was that the Hostmonster technician gave me the wrong Root Directory address.

It is now fixed.

Your help is always right on. Thank you so much.

Can you tell me if there is any easy way to make my website responsive?

Making a fixed-width site responsive and phone-friendly takes planning and a re-build.  The responsive part isn't too difficult with Bootstrap framework, just time consuming.  But the phone-freindly bit gets tricky especially with bandiwdth heavy images.

Have you tried a root directory of /home4/ or of /home4/jpalikco/ (with trailing slash)?

Just an FYI, Dreamweaver automatically applies the trailing slash when entering a Root Directory. See the answer I gave to Nancy. My provider gave me the wrong root directory. 😞
