For some files in Dreamweaver when i publish i get the following error:
File Transfer failed due to following reasons:
- Internal data error: Transferred file size does not match the expected file size.
It only does it for some files and not others. When it errors it also removes the file from the server.
I have tested with Filezila and it publishes the files fine with no issues so the issue is definately Dreamweaver.
It can work on a file all morning and then once it fails once it will never let you publish it even if you delete and try again.
The server hosts say there is nothing they can do , please can you explain how i can stop this happening.
Here is example log for a .htm file i was trying to publish:

I jusrt spend about an hour with Adobe Tech support. They made me downgrade to version 21.2. Told me not to upgrade until after 21.3. Everything is back to working fine. It's a bug in Dreamweaver 21.3, nothing wrong on my end.

It could be timing out during data transfer. DW uploads HTML & scripts almost instantly for me. However for large media files (video), I always use FileZilla.
Try restoring preferences. See if that helps. If it doesn't, come back for more suggestions.

Im having the same issue. I've restored preferences with no help. Running DW Version 21.3. It seems like many others are experiencing this issue. Has anyone found a fix?

I don't know who the "MANY OTHER USERS" are.
This isn't something that's been reported here much in the past year or more.
Unless I'm missing something, you're not getting an acccurate byte count on files you've recently uploaded to your server. It could be an issue with your server/computer rounding up/down to the nearest kilobyte?

hi, late to the party! But as a novice I too have been using DW for many years and now suddenly experiencing the same error FTP transfer messages each time I try to upload new images to the server. My webhost has tried all sorts changing the FTP log in details with no luck! I am now updated to DW21.6
what can I do please?

I had the same problem last year and rolled back to 21.2 to cure it. Without me realising DW installed 2.14 a few weeks ago and I didn't notice for a while, but now the same problem has come back. It will upload files occassionally but often will give the Transferred file size does not match the expected file size error and appartently wipe the file off the server. They upload with Filezilla no problem. Isn't it about time Dreamweaver cured this bug?

This is not a Dreamweaver bug; it is Adobe failing to upgrade Dreamweaver to comply with current standards. Do what thousands of other ex-Dreamers have done, jump ship, go VSCode for a free solution or, as I have done, Wappler.

I've looked at Wappler. The problem is I have dozens of website and it seems to me I will not be able to maintain them using Wappler. Or is it feasible to use Wappler to maintain an existing site?

Wappler is the same as Dreamweaver but with many of the DMXzone extension included as per:

LMAO 🤣
DW development is static. What you see is what you get.
Keep using FileZilla. It's a superior S/FTP client that's in active development & recommended by most web hosts.

I'm fed up with paying Adobe for a product they no longer care about. So yesterday I did some major revisions and additions to one of my larger websites using only VSCode and Filezilla. What a revelation! It took me no longer and in some ways was a better experience. Bye Bye Adobe! (well, apart from Lightroom, but that is so essential for my work now I don't mind paying £12pm). For a while now instead of Premiere Pro I have been using DaVinci Resolve (better and free!), instead of Illustrator, Affinity Designer (easier to use), instead of Photoshop, Affinity Photo (just as good) and instead of InDesign, Affinity Publisher (not so good, but now I no longer edit magazines, not a problem - Pages does everything I need and has completely replaced Word in my workflow).
I must be said however, back in the day, when it was owned by Macromedia, Dreamweaver taught me (and many of my students) how to code so that over the years I came to understand how HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, etc, etc, works by absorbtion. With experience and familiarity, seeing a piece of code can, in itself, be a visual experience, in the same way as if I said, "The huge waves crashed over the Cornish rocks", you would visualise it. It could continue to be a great educational tool if developed in that direction.
I will miss Acrobat Pro though - can anyone suggest a good replacement for editing PDFs?

Thank you Ben for such a comprehensive reply. I'll have a look your suggestions.
In my situation I am having to look at cheap or free solutions now. When I was running my business full time, subscribing to Adobe, Microsoft and others was a trivial business expense, but in the last two or three years I have slowly retired and now do only probono work for organisations I support and the local community, so cannot justify subscription fees.
Yes, I have used Camtasia in the past, mainly to produce tutorials, and it is good, but DaVinci Resolve is phenomenal. Don't let the fact it is free put you off (no need for the paid for version). It has been used to edit many a Hollywood film.

I understand your situation well. I've been through it myself. In just three weeks, I'll be celebrating my 82nd birthday.

I had this problem for a very long time. I reverted to an earlier version to be able to use it. Dreamweaver is no longer being developed or supported. HOWEVER - all is not lost. I ditched DW months ago and now use the following: Microsoft Visual Studio (free - Windows and Mac) + Filezilla (free) + an additional monitor (not essential but makes it easier to view the website in a browser as you make changes). Here's the thing - IT IS EASIER THAN DREAMWEAVER! (and did I mention quite free?) Try it. Just make sure you have the plugin for "Open in Live Server" (free). Even if you don't have a great knowledge of HTML, CSS, Bootstrap or Java script, you can just copy and paste and alter the stuff you already made in DW. You'll find it very easy to do that and what with that and searching resources on line you'll soon learn. Now that I have the Affinity Suite to replace Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign - and for video editing, DaVinci resolve - (guess what - yes, all free!), I have said goodbye to Adobe at long last. Hooray!!!! Free used to mean inferior - not anymore. All the above are superb, used world wide by professionals, and are absolute game changers. Adobe will continue for a while because of its huge user base, but the design landscape looks very different now and Adobe will have to either change radically or go under.

We were introduced to Visual Studio Code software in our introductory HTML and CSS course. Very useful to write and review the code, and additional file types like PHP. I did setup FileZilla, but did find the Managed site option in DW useful to copy files to a sandbox location in my remote host provider. Once the code is validated on the remote, I can publish live if I want.
