I'm having the same problem in preview mode. My code and content show up but all attempts to reattach my stylesheet are to naught.

Please show us the HTML code that links to your external stylesheet.

 

If this is a Template child page, close it and open your main Template.dwt file.  Attach external stylesheet, save and populate changes to child pages.
