Hello. We have just subscribed a number of people to CCT. I have created the necessary packages successfully. Now, I am in the process of setting up AUSST for the first time. I have tried on both a Windows Server 2003 SP3 and Windows Server 2008R2 server with the same results. It gets to a certain point and then seems to timeout. See command prompt text below.
Is this simply network conjestion somewhere and I just have to keep trying until I jag it sometime? We have a 10Mb Fibre connection and I am doing it at a quiet time of the evening. Therefore, I don't think its my end.
Any other ideas?

Hello,
The error obtained is "server unresponsive", which could be due to network issue and may resolve by retrying. You may like to run AUSST in "Incremental Synchronization" mode (that is option 2) to avoid re-downloading files that are already downloaded.
If you still face this issue, after retrying couple of times, we would need DLM.log to analyze this issue further. Please use steps below, to create detailed DLM.log
Please create asu.trace file at ā%temp% ā on Win machine, where AUSST is running.
Then run AUSST again and collect the DLM.log found at "%TEMP%\AdobeDownload"
Thanks

Thanks Sumitash. I apologise for delay in reply.
After creating the blank asu.trace file, all I get in the DLM.log file is a single line each time I run the AUSST initialisation. This is the contents of the file after 4 attempts:

Am i missing something? I even rebooted the server after the first attempt. Running fresh or incremental makes no difference.
Thanks for uploading your file Philadendron. Not sure what you did different to me. I had a quick look through the file but don't think I can be much help. Hopefully, someone from Adobe can have a look and get back to us.
I am running on a Windows Server 2003 virtual machine in case that makes any difference. Will try to get the log using a Windows 7 Pro x64 pc soon although I don't expect any difference.

Ian.

I just tested this on a Windows 7 x64 pc and actually got a DLM.log file which looks very similar to philadendron's one. You can downoad it here (i think, as I have not used this before):
https://www.hightail.com/download/OGhmaXRDOC9oMlY3czhUQw
Here is a copy of the command line that generated the DLM.log file:

Enter 'Y' to continue or any other key to exit: Y

Can someone from Adobe please review these DLM.log files and provide some advice.

Hi Ian and Phil,
Log files sent by both of you indicate that http intermittent error has occured, server request is getting timed out. This generally occurs in case of bad network or when network is throttled.
Generally in such cases "retry" (running AUSST in "Incremental Synchronization" mode) should help. However, since this issue is coming again and again for some of you, we are further looking into this.

Hi Sumita, this report was back in 2013. I am looking at Running AUSST, and was wondering if this issue is resolved?

Hello bwCCTAdmin,
I'm wondering if you and I have any consistencies in our network environment. You mentioned you've tried the sync on a Windows 7 box, I've been trying on a Server 2008 R2 box. The server runs through an HP 4108 switch. I have a Barracuda Web Filter, but there's a bypass for the IP address of the box I'm trying the sync from. I've also got a Cisco 5510 firewall.
I don't really want to run AUSST on any other box since this is my IIS box. I've tried enabling/disabling some of the Advanced settings on the Broadcom NIC in the server (a Dell Poweredge R510), but to no avail. No matter if I do an incremental or a fresh sync, I can't get past about 23-25 items out of 1050.
Please let me know if you figure this out. I'd love to get CC rolled out to my designers, but I certainly don't want 20+ installations all hitting the Internet and downloading updates willy nilly.

Thanks Sumita and Philadendron.
I have tried both fresh and incremental sync at various times of the day up to about 11pm AEST. They have all failed at around the 20 items mark.
As 99.9% of our staff work 8am to 6pm, bandwidth after 6pm is not a problem. As i indicated before, we also have a 10Mb Ethernet over Fibre connection. My firewall (pfsense) graphs the bandwidth in realtime. When I start AUSST, I see the bandwidth reach 10Mb until AUSST fails and the bandwidth use returns to its normal very low level.
I usually have no problems downloading large programs from companies such as Autodesk or Linux (4GB) DVD ISO files from CentOS etc. This is something I usually do during the evening and find the bandwidth available more than adequate.
I think my setup is somewhat different to yours, Philadendron. Here are some details:
Our fibre terminates at a Cisco router (don't recall model) configured as a bridge. This is connected to a dedicated NIC on one our ESX4 hosts. Our firewall is pfSense 2.0.3 running as a VM on the ESX host. Our ESX hosts connect to the LAN through a HP 2810-24G switch. Our ESX hosts are HP DL380G6's with a mix of Intel and Broadcom NICs. I'm not sure which NIC is dedicated to the WAN.
The first machine i tried AUSST on was Windows Server 2003 running as a KVM VM on a CentOS 6.4 (x64) host. This host hardware is an old Dell Poweredge 840. It is connected to the same HP2810 switch as the ESX hosts.
The other machine I have tried is a HP Probook 6560b laptop running Windows 7 Pro x64. It is connected to a small desktop switch in my office. This in turn is connected to LAN switch in the server room. The LAN switch is connected to the HP2810 via 2 x 1Gb aggregated links.
In both cases, the LAN IP of both machines is configured to completely bypass the firewall proxy server (squid). In fact, I have even disabled squid completely to see if this made any difference. It didn't.
There is no bandwidth throttling. In fact, I was wondering if bandwidth throttling might work. Perhaps the adobe update server is getting overwhelmed by the speed of the requests. That doesn't seem plausible but when nothing else seems to be working, I usually start looking at the less plausible options. When I get a chance, I may try AUSST from a regional office using a Telstra ADSL2+ WAN link. These are considerably slower than our 10Mb fibre link. However, I don't really expect any difference.
I also don't want our staff all downloading the updates individually. However, at this stage we only have 4. So it is somewhat easier to manage than 20+!
If I think of anything, I will update this thread. However, I don't believe it is at our end unless something is going on with our service provider (Telstra). This is highly unlikely though.
Regards
Ian.

Hopefully someone sheds light on this, as I am getting the same problem.
It downloads about 25 patches then I get the Server is not Responding.
Eventually it times out with a similar message as the OP
Processed 25 out of 1056 items.
AdobeUpdateServerSetupTool returned with code: 5.
Note: This has only started happening since we upgraded to AUSST 3.
As a test before I left last night I kicked off an incremental via AUSST 2, 18 hours later it is still downloading, it appears it is rebuilding the entire library.
As version 2 has made it further then version 3 has it would appear there is either an error somewhere or a setting needs to be changed when using version 3.
Edit: It finally finshed "Download progress: 100% Time taken for syncing server : 20 hrs 01 mins 10 sec"
Hopefully we can identifiy what has gone wrong in version 3, as the ability to schedule the check was a function we had been waiting for.

So did it finish with AUSST 2, or 3?
Do I really have to downgrade AUSST to 2 to get this to finish?

Sorry about the delay in responding, been offline for a few weeks.
Yes it finished ok running AUSST 2
So the time out issue appears to be only with version 3.
Unfortuantly as 3 doesn't show each thing dowloaded like 2 does i'm not sure where it's getting to before the time out.

I have the same issue - checking the log it appears that it downloads initial files that have no extension ending ; but when it reachs the first files that end in an extension (.zip in my records) it fails to download and then the server stops responding.
can download files like: \updates\oobe\aam10\win\AIRforIOSFlashBuilder2.6\2.6.1\.
downlaod fails at file with complete extension: \updates\oobe\aam10\win\PhotoshopCameraRaw-6.0\6.7.040\Setup.zip

Hello, I am experiencing this very same issue. I try again, and each time, it fails at a different update, but never gets further than about 28 or so out of 1048.
Can you shed some light on this issue? Thanks.

I am also experiencing this same issue. I've got a brand new Win Srv 2008 R2 VM and I am trying to sychonize with the adobe servers. First i tried with the --fresh option and that just wiped out the folder that I wanted to store the updates in and then crashed because it couldn't find the folder it just deleted! Next I ran the command without the fresh switch and the update began to download but just like the rest of you, I would get the Server not responding message and the syncing would stop.
Well, I've kept at it and so far, I've downloaded 472 updates out of 1056 however, I've been restarting the command on and off for over 12 hours - this is just plain old stupid.
It's most probably an issue with the adobe update servers. I believe they have a short timeout set on the connection since it seems (based on the log file) that whenever a setup.zip file is encounted, that's when the not responding message appears. I'm assuming the setup.zip file is farily large and the server just times out and disconnects.
I've also noticed that there will be times that I will get a fair amount of updates downloaded before loosing the connection. At one point I went from 278 updates downloaded to 342. The very next try went from 342 to 347. Of course, each time you run the command, it starts from 0 and has to count/verify all the way up before it begins downloading the next update.
So, I think that adobe had their heads up their butts when they decided to go to the "cloud" and completely underestimated how busy their servers were going to be and how choked their connections were going to get.
I've said this for years and given the recent issues I had simply installing the CC programs and now this, adobe is quite possibly the worst software company on the planet. Great ideas but very poor implementation.

Found this dated 10/30 - have yet to try it:
http://blogs.adobe.com/oobe/tag/ausst
....
Customers using AUSST where experiencing an intermittent issue whereby downloads where timing out. We have now updated the version of AUSST carried in the CCP 1.3 download and also on Devnet to resolve these issues.
...
relaunch creative cloud packager and get prompted to update - that should bring down the AUSST new version.
