Can you install AAMEE 2.1 and 3.0 on the same system?

Explorer ,
Jun 13, 2012 Jun 13, 2012

I am rolling out a limited test of CS Suite 6.0, and have used 3.0 to package the files.  Everything went smooth.

However I needed to Roll a new depolyment of my 5.5 suite and it looks like teh AAMEE 3.0 overwrote my 2.1

Question 1:  Can you use 3.0 to package Creative suite 5.5?

if not:

Question 2:  Can AAMEE 2.1 live on the same system as AAMEE 3.0?

All systems in question are Mac OS X 10.6.8 or 10.7.4 all upgraded to the latest versions of software.

Thanks so much.

John Gibson

Hi,

AAMEE 3.0 does not supports Creative Suite 5 or Creative Suite 5.5 family media. You should use AAMEE 2.1 for CS 5 or CS 5.5 media.

AAMEE 3.0 should be used for Creative Suite 6 media only.

AAMEE 3.0 and AAMEE 2.1 should be installed on different machines. They cannot co-exist on the same machine. Also, once you have installed AAMEE 3.0 on a machine you cannot roll back and install AAMEE 2.1 over it. So, you should use a fresh machine to install AAMEE 2.1.

Thanks,

Hi,

We understand your concern that is not convinient that AAMEE 2.1 cannot be installed on machine where AAMEE 3.0 is installed. we are currently working on utility to uninstall/remove AAMEE 3.0, so that you can install AAMEE 2.1

It would have been great if Adobe had planned this out to ensure concurrent install of AAMEE 2.1 and 3.x would be possible.

That said, there are bigger fish to fry, so...

A simple and viable solution is to create a Lion virtual machine in Parallels or VMWare Fusion so you can run AAMEE 2.1 on the same machine.

That's what we're doing and it works great.

Hi,

If you install AAMEE 3.0 on a machine and want to revert back to AAMEE 2.1, we have developed a new utility called as Remove AAMEE 3.x utility and this is posted at http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/aameetools/ .

This will remove AAMEE 3.x from your machine and will allow you to install AAMEE 2.1 back on the same machine.

This utility is available only to remove AAMEE 3.x versions but not the previous versions. Also, none of the CS6 products should be installed on the machine where AAMEE is installed.
