Creative Cloud Software Update Hogging Bandwidth

I, like many others here, are frustrated beyond belief with the Creative Cloud desktop app hogging virtually all bandwidth when downloading updates!

It brings my entire system to a crawl and there's nothing I can do once it starts a "waiting/retry" loop but reboot. I've had to remove CC automatically loading so after a reboot I can actually get work done. I don't remember Creative Cloud always being this way.

I've searched and searched for solutions, but there are none. I've even doubled the bandwidth coming into the studio, and STILL CC takes it all! CC does offer the ability to adjust bandwidth amounts when transferring user files to/from the cloud, but it doesn't do the same when it comes to software updates. I've also hunted for direct downloads of the software CC is trying to download, so I can update without going through CC, but all "direct" download links point right back to the CC app.

I'm looking to know if anyone has found a way around this, or if Adobe will take some responsibility for this issue.

I'm running CC on Windows 10.

I find it easy to just turn off auto update, then I start the updates when there are any at the end of my day. Then when I get on the computer the next day, everything is updated and I'm good to go.

That is what they should allow you to do in the APP though!!
Have a schedule to either do updates between specific hours or when the computer is idle, lots of other companies seem to be able to do this why ADOBE continues to ignore complaints and not implement it I do not know.

Why have the ability to control bandwidth on syncing but not on updating? Although would also be good to set times for syncing to happen as well.

I have observed the same behavior on my system as well. I have logged this as an enhancement request to allow bandwidth throttling or an easier way to pause/resume updates. I am in Support, not engineering, so I can't make any commitments here, but I wanted to note that I hear your concerns and I've put it forth for consideration and included the comments here as feedback.

Best regards,

I agree. I see there is a setting in the Creative Cloud Desktop app, for File > Preferences > Syncing > Download transfer speed. But I'm pretty sure this is literally for "Syncing" only. Not for the actual download of updates.

It would be nice if this app had a similar setting for downloads, because this makes my hom internet unusable while downloading updates.

I shouldn't have to make adjustments to my QoS on my router, to fix that issue.

Lots of users with the same problem, but no solution yet. Come on Adobe, just add an option to limit download speed for updates! I'm getting complaints from my office as it is slowing everything down!

these are user-to-user forums.

for applicable apps, you can make (some) suggestions to adobe here, https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/x-productkb/global/how-to-user-voice.html

So many users complaining about this issue over quite a few years. Most threads on the subject have been locked as far as I can see. Pretty disgraceful of Adobe to not address this issue. Waiting until the end of the woking day, or for any other such break from one's desk, to  start an update isn't acceptable. In a small office hogging the bandwidth isn't a popular move...

Having auto-update enabled isn't an option either as it's not possible to shedule these so they can just happen, without warning, during the working day. You're left wondering what's happened to the internet...

All other apps on my PC manage this without having the same impact, come on Adobe get your act together, it's not as if you don't have the resources to fix this. it appears that you just cant be bothered.

the issue is linked to problematic files that won't sync.  ie, most of us don't see that problem.

note: that doesn't excuse adobe from detecting problematic files and aborting attempts at syncing.
