Correct answer DavidLLevine

This turned out to be a stupid mistake on my part. I assumed, since it's OK to install 32 bit apps on a 64 bit system, that it would be OK to build  a 32 bit package. When I built the 64 bit package, the install worked first time on the target machine.

Oops.

Hi David ,

Try removing all the Adobe files from these locations :

Windows :

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe

C:\Users\(UserName)\AppData\Local\Adobe

Delete all the files in temp :

C:\Users\(UserName)\AppData\Local\temp

try reinstallation of the product.

let me know if it helped

Regards,

Chirag

Hello Chirag,

Thanks so much for your suggestions.

After uninstalling all Adobe products, deleting C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe contents, I ran the Adobe-provided cleaner app. Then I restarted the system and logged on with a new-to-the-system local admin account to run the install.

I did not check C:\Users\(UserName)\AppData\Local\temp. I will do so now and report back.

UPDATE: Install still fails, with same error messages. The (26) error code indicates media trouble, but I've downloaded the package 3 times, the last time directly to the target system.

From PDApp.log file:

| AAMEEUtilities |  |  | 3452 | Process creation completed.

01/29/16 10:43:32:728 | [FATAL] |  | ASU | DeploymentManager | DeploymentManager |  |  | 3452 | The return code from the Adobe Installer Process is (26).Stopping the installation process.

01/29/16 10:43:32:728 | [ERROR] |  | ASU | DeploymentManager | DeploymentManager |  |  | 3452 | Media Failed (IDSN11.0)

I will next try to install to a clone of this system that has not had users yet.

I wonder if I should try downloading a 64bit package.

David
