Question

Error 16 - Enterprise

Hello!

We have deployed Adobe Acrobat DC to our company and most, if not all, users who try to view PDFs from IE (using the "open" option) receive an 'Error 16' error message. We have exhausted all efforts and are hoping someone else out there has experienced this and has a solution. We've contacted support and have gotten nowhere.

Full error -

Please uninstall and reinstall the product. If this problem still occurrs, please contact Adobe tech support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.

Error 16

We have tried...

Making the user a local admin on their PC

Granting full permissions to all Adobe filed in ProgramData and Program Files.

Uninstall, clean with Adobe Cleaner, Reinstall

Fresh install on a new machine (which will sometimes work, but then breaks later)

Monitor traffic on the firewall and proxy for blocks (there are none)

Please help!

Error 16!

I couldn't get help on this, we eventually downgraded to Adobe Acrobat XI and that seems to work.

Be prepared to lose LiveCycle Designer also, but you can get it back if you upgraded:

Upgrade Adobe Designer from Acrobat

Sorry about your problem. How did you deploy Acrobat (via Creative Cloud or standalone)?

Do you see error 16 only while trying to view a pdf file in IE or are at other places in the product as well? (eg. viewing pdf file in application, product launch etc)

There is an Error 16 faq here: Troubleshooting and Support — Enterprise Administration Guide

Does that help? Long shot. . .
