Installation Problem: IMSLIB not found. Acrobat Services will not work. - After running CC uninstall

I have a very specific problem.  This is an enterprise environment, copying files, reinstall is not an option, across several machines.  All machines - W10 x64 environment - Acrobat DC Classic 2017 - MSI install, NOT CC install -  customized serialized - everything works.

The problem happens when the CC uninstaller is run for another program, it breaks the already installed Acrobat.

Example - a user gets Photoshop installed. - Created from the CC packager online.  Photoshop is uninstalled – everything works fine.  Adobe CC app is uninstalled – Acrobat is now broken.

The problem is isolated to the CC uninstaller. Either running the cc cleaner app, or the uninstall from add remove programs breaks the already installed version of Acrobat.  I am looking to see if anyone has encountered this and found a solution / command line example for the CC uninstaller to not remove components other adobe application rely on.

The errors are specific.

Error 1:

Installation Problem: IMSLIB not found. Acrobat Services will not work

Error 2:

Adobe Application Manager, required to verify your license, is missing or damaged.

Please download a new copy of Adobe Application Manager from

http://www.adobe.com/go/applicationmanager.

This issue is reproducible by running the uninstall for creative cloud.

This is a problem when trying to update the CC application, or remove a license from a machine.

My question is, in you used the the MSI installation method why are you using the CC uninstall method? And are you performing "Per-User" installations?  Per user installs are not supported if you've used a GPO deployment.

Or, are you trying to deserialize and migrate to Named User Licensing (NUL)?

In any case, that also means that updates should've been disabled at installation time and/or pushed via Group Policy.

If you need to go full blown with command line you need the updated Administration Guide. What you're looking for is documented here:

You also need this:

Evrything you need is accessed through this link: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/index.html

+++EDITED REPLY  missing download link for the CC Cleanup Tool guidance

Is this the guidance that you're using???

This other link below is the old guidance and it only applies to older version and desktop (not Enterprise):

Use the guidance that I posted above in the first bullet and See the section that I pasted below from that link --->>> "For Enterprise Users (Windows Only)".

Run the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool by following these steps in order:

  • Click the following link to download the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool for Windows: AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe.
  • Create a directory/folder named AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool_Win and then copy the downloaded file in it.
  • Choose Start > Run and type cmd.
  • In the Command Prompt window, change directories to the AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool_Win directory that you created.
  • Type AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe --createCleanup=[absolute path to the folder in which you want to store the XML file].

Note: Make sure that there is one space after .exe. Do not enter any additional spaces in this command.

Below that section see the another part that briefly explains how to edit the XML files that generate a list of all the Adobe products installed.

You must uncomment the entries  of the products that you want to uninstall using the CC Cleanup Tool

Jus to clarify, I have onver a thousand machines, where acrobat is needed, therefore we went with th eterprise methor for "acrobat dc clasic"  We do not want named license as this is considered a critical app for all users.

Only SOME users have a need for photoshop or illustrator, so the named license is being used for them.  I will try the xml method since the cc uninstaller seems to remove pd app which is needed by acrobat.
