Hi Adobe Support Community,

I am new to the Adobe Admin Console and I had a question around being in compliance for adobe.

If I checked a users laptop (scanned by SCCM) and there was footprints of Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 and yet they are not assigned in the Adobe Admin Console, is that a risk? What I mean by that is can the user still access and launch the software and be concerns for an audit or compliance risk? Or is there measures in place that they user can have the product installed but as long as they are no longer in the Console, they will be blocked from opening and accessing the product.

After the software in installed is Adobe checking by a license key or restricted by a user id?

Thank you in advanced for helping me out!

Please do not worry. Installing or keeping authorized old apps will not create any issues and it does not matter if the user has a license or using it or not.

Hi Mitchell,

If any users have the named license of creative cloud then they can use the old authorize version as well like 2019 and 2018 as well.  Please find the list of unauthorized versions/apps which they should uninstall from the machine here: https://helpx.adobe.com/enterprise/kb/remove-unauthorized-versions.html

Hi Techburner,

I understand the portion around unauthorized. However, my question was around a user having an installation but not being in the Adobe Admin Console. Are you saying they can still use authorized older versions if they are not in the console? If that is the case, would that make us out of compliance?

If the license is not assigned to the user so he/she won't be able to use the apps even if it is installed on the machine. Installing the authorized version even if there is no subscription is not compliance. They can use that application with their personal/individual subscription as well.

Hi Techburner,

For clarification, its not out of compliance if the software is installed because the user does not have the ability to launch/use the app? Is that correct?

Thanks!
