Is there a way to disable protected mode at startup?

Is there a way to disable protected mode at startup? Through the customization wizard I turn off protected view but cant find a way to disable protected mode at startup.

So you can disable it as described above, but it is highly discouraged. In fact, there is little reason to do so unless there's a bug or esoteric  incompatibility. Protected Mode is designed to protect users in a transparent way that doesn't affect their PDF workflows.
