Missing the option to opt-in to privacy

Hi there,

When I was installing some software, I was told I could "opt-out at any time" to the collection of "Desktop App Usage" data by going to "your account preferences", but that URL simply redirected me ot the main page of account.adobe.com.

Does anyone know how to opt-in to privacy?

I did some googling and on the App Usage data collection FAQs page, http://www.adobe.com/go/app_usage_FAQ, the link to opt out, adobe.com/go/cc_usage, redirects me to account.adobe.com/privacy , which redirects me directly back to account.adobe.com.

I also found an existing community article that sent me to the Adobe Privacy Center. The path of getting there is a dark pattern, and it still redirected me to account.adobe.com.

For those of you who were wondering:

The annoyingly long dark pattern to another dead end is

Adobe Privacy Center > Your privacy choices > Learn More [subheading of "Identifiable Data Collection" under "Desktop Applications"] > Account Management [Subheading of "Can I choose not to share..."]

...and in full, the data collection notification was:

"Our desktop apps collect usage data to help Adobe deliver and improve our products and personalize your experience. By installing this app you agree to share this information with Adobe. You can opt-out at any time in your account preferences. Learn more."

Hello Clement,

It seems that you have an Enterprise account. When managing application installs via Creative Cloud Packager, or with enterprise IDs, the ability to share this information with Adobe is disabled for Creative Cloud for teams, Creative Cloud for enterprise, and Creative Cloud for education members, and cannot be enabled.

Kindly check this help document for more details: https://www.adobe.com/privacy/desktop-app-usage-info-faq.html.

Hi, I too am attempting to understand how to view or adjust the privacy settings on my Adobe apps such as Acrobat DC.   I too am on an Enterprise education license.  Your answer seems to say that information about my app installations aren't shared with Adobe, but it doesn't say anything about the other privacy settings.   Instead you refer me to a FAQ which (in its current revision) merely gives me a pointer to my Account Management page, which doesn't reveal (in any way that I can understand) any way for me to adjust privacy settings.   So frustrating.

Can I choose not to share information about how I use and interact with desktop apps?

Yes. You can choose not to share usage information by setting your preferences on your Account Management page.

Sigh.

Yeah indeed, I imagine that's how my privacy settings would look if I had a personal account.  However I have an enterprise account so -- apparently -- I currently have no way of controlling (or even viewing) my privacy settings.    When I'm authenticated into my enterprise account, the URL you provided gives me a redirect to https://account.adobe.com/profile, and that page gives me no indication whatsoever of where I might access any privacy controls.  Screenshots below.

Hi Nancy,

account.adobe.com/privacy redirects to account.adobe.com. I'm starting to suspect that since this is an enterprise account (offered by my school), I'm redirected away from the privacy controls instead of given a message that I can't change the settings in the first place.

Cheers,

Right.  If this is your school's account, you don't have access to school settings.

I am moving this question to Enterprise & Teams.
