Password protected .p12 file in PreFlight folder

Is there documentation to help understand the use of the .p12 file in the preflight folder?  A folder and a password protected certificate is generated each time Adobe is updated and it is a security concern that I'd like to cover. Screenshot attached.

It's a certificate file in binary format.  There isn't any in-depth documentation about the file format available from Adobe, but here is a short description of the types of certificates formats and the information that they contain from another site.  Certificate files normally have a password as they usually contain a private key.

What are the differences between .P7B (PKCS#7) .PFX/.P12 (PKCS#12) .PEM, .DER, .CRT, .CER Certificates?

The Preflight.p12 is used for embedding audit trails and it is a valid certificate file.

Thank you. Why is it password protected? Is it an installation file? Is there documentation available?
