Registration_Suppress causes application startup loop Acrobat Pro 11.0.07

Hey guys,

Running into a strange issue, that I'm not sure if anyone's encountered. With previous versions of Acrobat XI Pro, I've been able to use the Adobe Customization Wizard to create a transform, which supplies the settings i want to deploy. Within these settings is also a switch that allows for suppressing the registration window, since, in an enterprise environment, it can be a bit troublesome to have end users deal with registering.

With the release of 11.0.07, I tried to simply apply the previous custom transform to the base installation, but after installation, when trying to run Acrobat, PDapp.exe will simply loop, without Acrobat actually opening. Originally, I thought it might have to deal with licensing, as our volume license was in the renewal stage, but after renewal, and when running a standard interactive installation, Acrobat installs fine, though it prompts for registration. Also, when trying to skip registration, the registration window simply closes then reopens.

I've been able to alter my custom transform so REGISTRATION_SUPPRESS=NO is set, which allows for Acrobat to successfully install, and, if the end user submits an Adobe ID, allows Acrobat to successfully run. However, it would be nice if it would be possible to simply suppress the registration window, or, perhaps, supply registration information through the transform so it doesn't show up for the end-user.

Suggestions?

1603 errors in an Adobe Acrobat log usually mean you don't have one of the PDFMaker capable apps installed (e.g. AutoCAD, Lotus Notes, etc...).  I'll have a look and hopefully so will some of the other Forum participants.

First there are a lot of errors in all of these log files.  A lot of possible issues are occurring here:

This is one error after the other in the entire file. It's like it is one running error.

You may want to defrag your hard drive as there are errors in the install there but there are too many errors about way too many things.

You need to contact Adobe about this one.

Are you doing something like this? :

msiexec /i [UNC PATH]\AcroPro.msi PATCH="[UNC PATH]\AcrobatUpd11007.msp" TRANSFORMS="AcroPro.mst"

Hey brogers,

I've tried two different methods. First one is to create an AIP with it already patched, and deploying it with a transform that applies various settings, including serial number and suppressing registration and EULA.

Second method is to deploy the base Acrobat 11.0 with the same transform, then applying the patch.

So, for method 1, msiexec /a AcroPro.msi, then msiexec /a AcroPro.msi /p AcrobatUpd11007.msp, then msiexec /qn /norestart /i AcroPro.msi TRANSFORMS=transform.mst IGNOREVC10RT=1

For method 2, msiexec /qb /norestart /i AcroPro.msi TRANSFORMS=transform.mst IGNOREVC10RT=1, then msiexec /qb /norestart /p AcrobatUpd11007.msp

Each time, as long as the REGISTRATION_SUPPRESS is set to YES, then after installation, if I try to load up Acrobat.exe, it'll loop PDapp.exe.

July 24, 2014

Try using a two step process:

msiexec /i [UNC PATH]\AcroPro.msi TRANSFORMS="AcroPro.mst" IGNOREVC10RT=1 REGISTRATION_SUPPRESS=YES /L*v "[UNC PATH]\AcroPro.log" /qn /norestart

msiexec  /p AcrobatUpd11007.msp /L*v "[UNC PATH]\AcroPatch.log"/qb /norestart

This will catch the log and hopefully show the reason why it's popping the registration (e.g. installation error).
