Remote Updater Manager downloads speed?

Hi, I am trying to create a script to keep the organization's apps up to date, but unfortunately, when I test it, it is too slow. I don’t think there is an issue with our firewall, as I’m testing the script at home and experiencing the same results.

Is RUM throttling speeds when it downloads patches in the background? Is it supposed to work like this? Patches download quickly via the GUI (Creative Cloud Desktop), but with RUM, it takes forever.

Has anyone else experienced this? Please advise!

However, its performance can be impacted by factors such as network configurations, system resource limitations, or how the script handles the update process. To improve RUM's performance, consider the following suggestions:

 

System Resource Utilization: Ensure that the device running the script has sufficient resources (CPU, RAM) available, as high resource usage can slow down RUM operations.

 

Firewall and Security Settings: Even though you mentioned testing at home, double-check that no firewall or security settings are affecting the download speeds. Sometimes, security software can interfere with background processes differently than with GUI applications.

 

Ensure the Latest Version: Make sure you’re using the latest version of RUM to take advantage of any performance improvements or bug fixes.

 

Compare Bandwidth Usage: Monitor network bandwidth during a RUM download session to identify potential bottlenecks.

 

RUM Logs: Review the Remote Update Manager (RUM) logs for any errors or indications of delays during the update process. For further guidance, please refer to the following documentation.
