Hi and thanx for this forum!

Can u share some insight into the future of CEP support in Adobe applications?
I know developers should start moving to UXP, but can you give a ballpark as to when Adobe will stop CEP completly?

Thanks in advance

Hi there @saariko !

I've written about the future of CEP in this blog post, I'll quote the relevant section here:

The Future of CEP 🔮

The question on the minds of many CEP developers is, how long will CEP continue to be supported? At the time of this writing, there is no definitive end date for CEP in any given product. It’s our plan to support CEP and UXP side-by-side for many years.

That said, there are two things to keep in mind:

  1. The Adobe support policy is as follows:

“For desktop apps, Adobe supports our current apps and the two previous major versions of each. For web and mobile apps, we support only the current version. For a list of apps and the support periods, see Products and technical support periods.”

Once a version of any given Creative Cloud product has dropped CEP, it will only continue to be supported by Adobe through the next two major versions of that product (usually, about two years).

2. Different Creative Cloud products will adopt UXP and drop CEP along their own timelines. Premiere Pro will almost certainly remove CEP long before InDesign, for example, but no product teams have planned this definitively yet.
