Hello everyone

I would like to use the Motion Factory extension by pixflow in after effects: Download FREE After Effects Plugins | Motion Factory

I downloaded it but if I klick on ''Motion Factory'' in my extensions in after effects, nothing happens. I am using after effects CC 2019. Please help! Thanks so much for your time...

Hi everyone, I had the same problem with the 2020 version. I tried various solutions from this thread, but none seemed to work (probably because I was doing something wrong).
Poking around the forums though, I found a solution to a similar problem for Photoshop extensions, you can find the original post here

It worked for me! Basically it's enough to prepare a text file with just written in it:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\CSXS.6]
"PlayerDebugMode"="1"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\CSXS.7]
"PlayerDebugMode"="1"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\CSXS.8]
"PlayerDebugMode"="1"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\CSXS.9]
"PlayerDebugMode"="1"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\CSXS.10]
"PlayerDebugMode"="1"

Then you save it as .reg file (literally change the .txt in the back into .reg and save). Then double click on it to run and then restart After Effects.
I think for older versions just omit the last lines (from the one with CSXS.10 for 2019, from CSXS.9 for 2018 and so on).

please open your system terminal ( https://macpaw.com/how-to/use-terminal-on-mac ) and then enter following line one by one and press enter ( each line is separated command )

defaults write com.adobe.CSXS.8 PlayerDebugMode 1

defaults write com.adobe.CSXS.9 PlayerDebugMode 1

after that close after effect, open it again and try motion factory ( please run the installation one more time before doing that ) and then let us know about the result.

I managed to get it to work for me in CC2019:

Copy these lines to Texteditor and convert it to TXT (DO NOT copy the lines from the browser and past it into Terminal).

Then copy the lines - ONE BY ONE - in the terminal, and hit enter after each line:

defaults write com.adobe.CSXS.8 PlayerDebugMode 1

defaults write com.adobe.CSXS.9 PlayerDebugMode 1

There is obviously a problem with the developers signature which the should fix up.

Luc Adriaens answer needs a bit of filling in.

See Setting Cep Debug Mode and Log Level the Easy Way | Creative-Scripts.com

On the Mac the default levels are normally cached so if one does the command in Luc's post one can think it didn't work because it generally won't work until a reboot.

Mac in Terminal

defaults write com.adobe.CSXS.8.plist PlayerDebugMode 1 && killall -u `whoami` cfprefsd

Windows in CMD (Command Prompt)

reg add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\CSXS.8 /t REG_SZ /v PlayerDebugMode /d 1 /f

Repeat the above lines replacing the 8 with 9.
To get it working for the next CC version use 10 and then 11 etc.
I when you repeat the command on the Mac you get an error message don't worry about it, the debug mode was set it's just the cache wasn't in place to be killed but all should work.
For both Mac and Windows, you must restart the app.
I have an extension that sets the debug level CSTK In Adobe App Console and Development Tool | Creative-Scripts.com  but it's a bit of an overkill for this purpose.
Basically what happens is that Adobe expects extensions to be signed with a valid digital signature. When it's not the extension will not function. To get around this one can set the debug mode to true (1) and then non-signed extensions will show up.
When we set up this forum the FAQ No 1 on the main page Extensions / Add-ons Development  is "Why my extension stopped working and how to set debug mode and logging levels?" which sends to the top link.
I guess people are really not seeing the FAQs

Hello there , It's Joseph from Pixflow team , please first make sure you've deleted the older version of Motion Factory by deleting /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/motion.factory then download and install motion factory from http://media.pixflow.net/motion/Motion-Factory-Setup.pkg and then let us know about the result.

I submitted a ticket too. No response yet but to be honest, this is really annoying that it's not up to date with 2019, because I do a lot of my graphics in AE rather than Premiere, and it makes it a real hassle to export out of PP 2019 and load into AE 2018.

The same for me. On the official website there is written on the top "Motion Factory Is Now Fully Compatible With After Effects CC 2019! " Download FREE After Effects Plugins | Motion Factory

Help please, thanks very much!
