hi,
yeah ive been having this issue with my laptop going on
2 years now, and ive tried many things already, and nothing seems to help.

when i go to the Settings Manager [Global Storage Settings]
it will not allow me to check the "Allow third-party Flash content" box

here's a screencap of what it just does
- http://i46.tinypic.com/jhep1u.jpg

ive read on these forums and others found via google
such as this one:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/128188

and get lost at what else to do.
i've uninstalled adobe flash player, reinstalled it, the proper way
noted on the website using the updated uninstaller and installer
and i just can't seem to get flash to work right..
i've even gone to the extent of re-installing windows vista
to start fresh and nothing.

don't get me wrong it does work.
i am able to browse videos on youtube and a few various sites
but i am unable to view or play myspace videos or music players
various flash based websites and such.

now i turn to the members of this forum
to ask for help, to see what i could do..

currently running
flash player version: 10.0.45.2

Hi, Just to be sure you have the latest FP files installed, you may want to check your Flash folder and  post the list

    back here.

Also in IE, check the add ons for Shockwave Flash Object....ActiveX Control....Flash10e.ocx and that it is enabled.

After so many Uninstalls/Installs it is always a good idea to take stock of what files are where, glitches happen:-)

Before you do that try this link: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.html  and see if you can now check the setting.

    Thanks,

Here's the current list of contents available in the Flash folder

    • Flash10e.ocx
    • flashplayer.xpt
    • FlashUtil10b.exe
    • FlashUtil10e.exe
    • install.log
    • NPSWF32.dll
    • NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe
    • uninstall_activeX.exe
    • uninstall_plugin.exe

and yes, in IE the Shockwave Flash Object addon, is enabled.

and no i still cannot select the "allow third party content" box

Hi, ok thanks for checking. Your IE Flash files are fighting with each other:-) The FlashUtil10b.exe needs removed, it is 4th version back, forgot the # at the moment.

In the manage add ons was a Flash10??.ocx listed?

I can't remember is I asked what version of IE you were using, but that would help, also are you using FF, or?

You need to have the correct Flash Player files installed before you can set the Global Settings.

What about your Java? In add/remove please list all Java entries and version#'s. We may as well make sure FP, SWO and Java are correct, since they all work together.

    Thanks,
