Question

Can't play .swf files. Says Flash Player isn't installed.

Whenever I try to play .swf files, I get the error message "Flash Player is not installed on your system. Swiff Player needs it to play Flash animations." However, Flash Player is in fact installed on my system, and is the latest version. I also installed Swiff Player, but it still doesn't work. Help would be greatly appreciated!

Standalone applications that require Flash Player typically require the ActiveX version of Flash Player, which is associated with Internet Explorer.

To install the ActiveX Flash Player, launch Internet Explorer and go here:

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

If that doesn't work, the desktop application may not correctly detect current versions of Flash Player, in which case you'd need to have a conversation with that application vendor.

Thanks!

Are these local swf files, or online?

Use the standalone Flash Player (Projector); download it from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

Note that the download is the Projector; not an installer, so you will have to make the file association manually
