Flash video choppy in any browser

Viewing streaming video is extremely choppy in either Firefox or IE. It's like watching a slide show of still photos, not a moving picture. The audio portion is unaffected. I have un-installed, then re-installed Flash in both browsers. I've paused the video to allow the buffer to fill completely. Nothing changes. Viewing video from a local drive does not result in choppiness, so I feel this is a Flash issue. This has been going on for at least a year now. I've run the Microsoft test for defective RAM with no indications of a bad module, but I replaced them anyway. Flash video still sux. All my drivers, DirectX, etc. are current.

My system:

XP (SP3)

Fujitsu Lifebook N6010

P4 (3.2GB) + 2BG RAM

ATI Mobility 9700 w/ 128MB RAM

AVG Professional Firewall

For crying out loud. Why does this have to be so difficult, Adobe?

    Hi, These issues are almost never just one thing causing it. Have you turned off the hardware acceleration to see if that makes a difference?

    Finally, McAfee.....What is the name of the McAfee you are using and version number?

    If you are using IE, in Tools>Internet Options, Do you have the Security for the Internet Zone set at Medium?

    Flash Player is a browser plugin and works thru the browser, so anything installed in the browser is either a + or a -.

    What website are you trying to stream?

    Many things can effect videos/streaming/browsers/Flash Player/.

    Test each browser here and let me know if you can see the Flash logo animation and what version of Flash Player is displayed.

    *AMD/ATI link you sent is no good. The video driver is proprietary

    (Fujitsu). They have had no updates available on their website since I

    purchased the computer in 2005.

    *System info: My system meets or exceeds all requirements.

    *McAfee: I use AVG version 9.0.872 with the latest definition database. I

    have tried deactivating this. It makes no difference.

    • When in IE, security settings are at medium.

    • Any Youtube video (or any other Flash based video for that matter) gives

    me problems. You can try this one for example:

    • Testing the Adobe page link you sent me results in an error message from

    Adobe. Page not available (both browsers)

    Yes, it's the beta version. I installed it only a couple of days ago while

    trying to track this problem down. This problem pre dates the beta

    installation by more than a year though. The version I had installed

    previously was the most current production version. I don't think the beta

    version is the problem.

    Confirming that in IE the Shockwave Flash Object is enabled. It is V

    10.1.102.64.

    Was this just a error or do you have McAfee & AVG? Also have you had McAfee or AVG for the time that you have had these problems?
