I keep having trouble installing the adobe flash player, because right as it's starting to download it stops and prompts, "not enough permissions to write disk." What do I do?

Hi rachelleb75063757,

Flash Player installs to restricted areas of the file system and thus requires Admin permissions to install.

What OS is this on?  Is the user ID you are using to install a standard user or an administrator user?

The OS version is 10.10.3, is that the right thing? I didn't know there was a difference, I suppose. It's making me give my computer password to install, so I'm assuming that makes it an Administrator install? But once I put in my comp password, shouldn't that let it install?

Hi Maria,

I watched the video and placed the markers in the install.log

However the issue is the install doesn't start at all so the console has nothing to record at all.

I'm really hoping I haven't just overlooked something really stupid (but at this point I'd take the shame for an answer) .

I've followed the update links and downloaded the file to install offline: "AdobeFlashPlayer_17_a_install

Here is the screen cap of the error message:

Thanks for your patience

Matt

Hi XMattrixX,

The file "AdobeFlashPlayer_17_a_install" is actually the online installer, not the offline installer.  This installer downloads and installs Flash Player silently in the background.

The FAQ mentions a total of 4 files.  Since nothing is being written to the install.log file the failure point is before this step.  Please provide the other 3 files, FlashPlayerInstallManager.log, Adobe_ADM.log and Adobe_GDE.log?  For the Adobe_ADM.log and Adobe_GDE.log files, please follow the instructions to enable verbose logging before uploading the files.

Thank you.
