Trying to update from Flash 32.0.0.371 to Flash 32.0.0.387 for Windows XP, downloaed from URL: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
I noticed immediately that the download filename changed format:
32.0.0.371 was install_flash_player.exe / install_flash_player_ax.exe
32.0.0.387 now is flashplayer32_a_install.exe / flashplayer32ax_a_install.exe
Neither the Firefox nor Internet Explorer installer will install the Flash plugin. Both installers end with an error, and delete the installer file from the disk!
Windows XP is still listed in the supported operating system list.
What happened?
I am thankful,
Michael

Greetings Robert,
Great to hear you still have success running the latest version of Flash on Windows XP.
Where do you obtain the installer from, what URL?
I am thankful,
Michael

As I'm a developer I use Flash plugin debugger here
https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/debug_downloads.html
but the user version works also

Greetings Robert,
As I am not a Flash developer, I stayed away from the debug version.
I pulled down the latest Flash for Firefox for Windows XP... tried the installer... get the following error box:
Adobe Flash Player
Application Initialization Error
[Finish]
The download filename was still the naming convention that has not worked on Windows XP: flashplayer32_a_install.exe
I am thankful,
Michael

All right, now I have attempted the installation as close to the accepted end-user way possible. Instead of downloading the installer using my Linux computer via the "other versions" page, I began the download right from Firefox running on Windows XP SP3. It detected the OS and browser correctly, I unchecked the box offering third party add-on ware, downloaded successfully. Exited Firefox. Ran the downloaded EXE file. Bang! The same error I cited above.
Ever since Adobe changed the Windows XP download filename, I have not had success installing on Windows XP for either Firefox or Internet Explorer.
Has Adobe actually tested their Flash installers for Windows XP SP3?
I am thankful,
Michael

Peoples is preparing for new movement - #FlashForever!
And I am not even joking.
Flash is taken by quite big companies which need it, and they even wrote a browser to run it for more than a decate more.
Aside of this peoples is transfering Flash player platform to WebASM platform which will practically making it work on all browsers and OS.
Enjoy! The best days for Flash is just begining !
