Videos stop buffering/streaming until refresh (BBC iplayer/Youtube etc).

This problem appears to have come out of nowhere.

If watching a video on youtube I can watch it for quite a while then it will stop streaming, the grey bar stops getting longer. It then just shows the buffering circle continuously and doesn't continue unless I refresh the page and resume from where I was stuck.

This happens on Youtube and on BBC iPlayer, although I assume it must happen elseware, but I don't use anything else to know this.

I've tried reinstalling flash and Java, using Chrome, Firefox and IE, it happens on them all. My internet connection can't be the issue as a laptop on the same network has no problem whatsoever and the BBC iPlayer test shows I am way over capable of streaming HD videos.

Please help!

    I've Had The Same Issue Till Few Minutes Ago When I Removed All The Youtube Extensions From Chrome Extensions Here

    Just Go To :-

    chrome://extensions/ 

    and Disable Any Apps Or Extensions For YouTube Like ( Smart Video for youtube ) '' That's What i Had ''

    Then Now It's Working Fine With Me No Problems At All

    Try this.

    Right click on flash player > Settings... > Local Storage (folder icon w/arrow)

    Here you can choose how much data is allowed to be stored locally.

    In an update adobe set it to 100kb... Hey adobe, we all secretly want to live in 1999 too, you are not alone. But seriously, that wouldn't work in the grown up world! Just think about it. How the hell am I going to rock out on my iPod mini if it's 1999? Huh?! Tell me that adobe! And don't tell me to just get a walkman. It's not the same.

    Sorry about that, anyway: set the bar to UNLIMITED.

    If that didn't fix your problem or it already was set to unlimited, there is an extension for chrome you could try.

    It's called Smart Video it's actually a pretty good add-on. You can configure everything having to do with youtubes buffer. Link is below.

    Thanks for all the replies. I've missed most of this as had no internet.

    I was at another place for one week, where the problem started to appear, (Although only on this PC not on a laptop on the same network), upon moving my PC back to my usual home I haven't noticed the problem since.  I should do some proper testing though, so may get back to you.

    @David_VI & @Chris Campbell:

    It's definitely an Adobe Flash Player problem !!!

    Please try the following steps:

    01) Choose an YouTube Video (for instance this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=251qoGOqpdk)

    02) Although it has only 2:22 minutes, the streaming stops after 17 seconds.

    03) Close the browser, open it again and enter the Youtube HTML5 video player test page (http://www.youtube.com/html5).

    04) At the end of the page click on "enter the HTML5 test".

    04) Now Choose again the same video indicated on item 01.

    05) Wow, that's magic!!! With the HTML5 video player the videoclip goes streaming without any kind of interruption.

    So Adobe, your player is not working good.

    I was unable to reproduce this on Chrome (21.0.1180.89 m), IE9 and Firefox 15.0.1 with Flash Player 11.4.402.278.  In all cases, the video immediately buffered to a little over 35% and then increased the buffer a few percent every second or two.  The video played in its entirety without pause.

    Could you please open a new bug report on this over at bugbase.adobe.com?  We'll need the information requested in this help document (http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html).  Once added, please post back with the URL so that others affected can add their comments and votes.

    @David_VI & @Chris Campbell:

    Exactly the same problem here:

    01) Starts after Adobe Flash Player upgrade to the last version.

    02) Same problem with Internet Explorer and Firefox (both last versions).

    03) Same problem with both Antivirus (NOD32) and Firewall (Comodo) uninstalled.

    04) Same problem with Ad Blocker Plus uninstalled (AdBlock Plus).

    05) I've tried to uninstall AFP version 11.4.402.278 and install an old version (10.3), but the problem persists.

    No problem with the above HTML5 video sample from Chris, but the video streaming stops with the Non-HTML5 video sample.

    All the published possible solutions on other websites and forums (and the complaints are many) are not working (cleaning caches, cookies, and the like).

    My System: Windows 7 64-bit, Service Pack 1, Internet Speed Connection: 50 MB/s.

    I am having the exact same problem with my Windows 7 PC's, but not my Windows XP PC's.  I have a very fast Internet connection and have tried every possible solution I can come up with.  I tested the 2 links you provided above.  The first time I tried the HTML5 video, it fully buffered in 1 or 2 seconds.  The Non-HTML5 video exhibited the exact problem I'm trying to solve, which is a short burst of buffering, then it just stops.  The video will play up to the point where the buffering stopped, and that's it.  I then tested the HTML5 video and experienced the same issue, except maybe even worse.

    Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.
