Bullets and Numbering issue

Hi,

I am working on a structured document and intend to use the following numbering style.

1.1 (A:<$chapnum>.<n+>\t) [Style1]

1.1.1(A:<$chapnum>.<n>.<n+> \t)[Style2]

1.1.1.1 (A:<$chapnum>.<n>.<n>.<n+> \t)[Style3]

a) (B:<a+>)< =0> \t)[Style4]

and 

i) B:<r+>) \t[Style5]

Only style 1 2 3 are suppose to be nested and style 4 and 5 are nested.

Problem is Style 4 doesn't reset even if :

• Style 1,2 or are on different number. It keeps following the previous letter.
• Similarly Style 5 also doesnt reset.

Please help.

If Style 4 is related to Styles 1 and 2 then they should all be part of the same series, in your case, A.

For just Styles 4 and 5 to work, you need this for Style 5:

B:< ><r+>)\t

I can show you how to incorporate Styles 4 and 5 into the A series if you tell me which of the first three Styles is supposed to reset Style 4.

Style 3 is supposed to reset style 4 and style 4 supposed to reset 5

This should give you what you want:

A:<$chapnum>.<n+>\t
A:<$chapnum>.<n>.<n+> \t
A:<$chapnum>.<n>.<n>.<n+> \t
A:< >< >< >< ><a+>)< =0> \t
A:< >< >< >< >< ><r+>) \t

Note that the < =0> isn't necessary on Style 4, but I like to use it for clarity. It tells me that there is a style below (Style 5) that is getting reset by Style 4.

Here is a way to visualize how the styles relate to each other:

A:<$chapnum>.<n+>< =0>< =0>< =0> < =0>\t
A:<$chapnum>.<n>.<n+> < =0>< =0> < =0> \t
A:<$chapnum>.<n>.<n>. <n+> < =0> < =0> \t
A:< >        < > < >  < >  <a+>) < =0> \t
A:< >        < > < >  < >  < >   <r+>) \t

Again, the < =0> building blocks are implied and not necessary to include, but I like to add them for clarity anyway. For example, if I am looking at the autonumber properties for Style 1, I can see that there are 4 other styles in the series that are dependent on that numbering.

Note: The spacing in this post is for visualization purposes only. Don't use this spacing in your actual autonumber definitions.
