FM 2020 won't start because it can't find a printer attached to my machine.

Error message:

There are no fonts available on printer. Cannot start Framemaker.

Hi,

I had not encountered your issue yet. Therefore I guess.

Which printers do you have installed? What is the default printer?

Can you check this thread? Does it help?

I'd check to see if the Adobe PDF printer instance exists and is set as the default Windows printer before firing up FM. Also, is your FM2020 all patched up?

And if the "Adobe PDF" printer instance has been lost, while working on restoring it, you can also make the default printer either of:
Microsoft Print to PDF
MS Postscript

If the Adobe PDF driver instance has been lost, I'd have to wonder if the built-in Distiller code is also, which would make the Print-to-PDF, Save-as-PDF and possibly Publish-to-PDF unavailable as well, not to mention Print-to-Ps&Distill.
