Hello,
I have a single document where on each page I have a poem. So there is no title and no index like 1. / 1.1 / 1.2 / 2, etc ...
I would like to select the begining of each poem and add a marker for each. Then, I would like to split the document into separated chapters files in a book automatically.
How to do it ?
Since FrameMaker2020 there is a tool:
in File -> Utilities ->"Split current document"
if it is not displayed, here's the solution:
Just create one and call it as you want.
You can use both: Paragraph styles and or marker
Finally, the most simply way for me has been to :
1) create a new marker with a new name.
2) select the begining of each poem and add it to the new marker
3) File/Utilities/Split current document, and choose the name of the new marker + "courant" in the list
Thank you to all people.

There's no automatic way to split content into separate FM files AFAIK, but I'm sure it could be scripted. Ping @frameexpert ?

This could be scripted with ExtendScript. If you are interested, please contact me offlist. rick at frameexpert dot com

About the "Split current document" function, I have seen this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xM4UCRXS5K4
But in this video the split is made from a file containing titles/index (1 / 1.1 / 1.2, etc ...), but in my case I have not any titles / index, so I don't know how to use the function "Split current document".
But this is exactly what I would like to do.

Are you able to share your document?

By example on this poem, I select the first words of this poem.
Then, in the "marker" window, what "marker type" to choose ?

Well, every poem needs a title, so I would assign one to each and then use the "Spilt" function to break it up based on the title paragraph tag.

The problem is that the author of these poems does not want to put a title on each poem.
So how to put a marker on each poem ?

I would create a title or heading paragraph tag - make its text colour white to make it invisible and use that as your pagination breaker.

I had the idea to put some page break after each poem, as marker (I have made "Insert/page break" at the end of each poem).
But I have two problems :
1) how to display the page break symbol on the page (the page break is here, but I cannot see its symbol : it is hidden).
2) When I go on File/Split current document, I have this window, but I cannot see "Page Break" in the list :

FrameMaker doesn't have a page break symbol.

If you want to skip placing a marker in the first line of each poem, create a new paragraph tag to indicate its importance, but leave the formatting the same as the other lines. Then use the utility Klause developed for Adobe to split based on your new paragraph style.

In a specific case where I have put one poem by page, and added a pagebreak between each page :
if I do the Split function, the result is I have 2 pages for each chapter (but each chapter = 1 poem, so I should have one page instead of 2 pages). In that specific case (by using pagebreak), how to have only one page by poem after split ?

Remove the "pagebreak"
