Adobe Fresco Keep Crashing

Community Beginner ,
Feb 19, 2025 Feb 19, 2025

Hello, I'm dealing with this problem for quite a long time. Partially found out a work around, however that is not ideal and only possible temporarily.

SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS:
Samsung Galaxy Book3 360
Windows 11 Enterprise (10.0, build 26100)

Intel i7-1360P CPU

16GB RAM

Intel Iris Xe GPU

PROBLEM:
While using Adobe Fresco with version 5.5.5 (also tested on 5.5.0), I'm experiencing constant crashing of software. The crash always happen during drawing and rotating canvas. There are no error messages for troubleshooting. Fresco freeze for a bit and then crash. This started with the new Windows update to version 24H2 which unfortunately forced itself on a computer.

WORKAROUND (no longer possible):
I have managed to revert the Windows update to 23H2 which seems to fix the problem, however this is no longer possible and won't be possible as Windows force its major updates on a computers.

WHAT I HAVE TRIED SO FAR:

  • Updated GPU drivers - no change, keep crashing.
  • Updated Windows to latest version - no change, keep crashing.
  • Tried version of Adobe Fresco 5.5.5 and 5.5.0 - no change, keep crashing.
  • Cleaned cache for Adobe Fresco - no change, keep crashing.
  • Performed re-installation of Adobe Fresco - no change, keep crashing.
  • Performed clean instalation of whole Creative Cloud with its applications, removed all registry of Adobe (performed clean installation of Adobe as whole) - no change, keep crashing.
  • Checked stability of Windows system on version 24H2, no issue found - no change, keep crashing.
  • Tried working in different Power Modes - no change, keep crashing.

I believe the problem is within the lack of compatibility for Adobe Fresco with latest WIndows 24H2 update.  Based on the community, this problem is known since 2024 when the Windows 24H2 Preview was released. Can someone help me with the fix please? I'm one step before going to competition for a better and stable graphic software.

Hi @ElaborateBeast,

I understand how frustrating it must be to deal with constant crashes, especially when it disrupts your workflow. Thanks for detailing everything you’ve already tried. That really helps narrow down potential causes.

Hi @ElaborateBeast,

I understand how frustrating it must be to deal with constant crashes, especially when it disrupts your workflow. Thanks for detailing everything you’ve already tried. That really helps narrow down potential causes.

Would you mind providing the following details to better understand and address the issue?

System Specifications: Can you confirm whether you have connected any external devices (monitors, styluses, etc.) while using Fresco?

Crash Dumps: When Fresco crashes, it generates crash dump files that can help diagnose the issue. Please navigate to:

C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Packages\Adobe.Fresco<app id>\AC\Dumps

If possible, upload these files to Dropbox, Google Drive, or a similar service and share the link here.

Additional Information:

• Are there specific tools or actions (brush type, layer adjustments, etc.) that seem to trigger the crash?

• Does this happen in both new and existing documents?

• Have you noticed any patterns in when the crashes occur?

If the issue is reproducible, a screen recording of the crash along with a sample file would be very helpful for investigation.

These details will allow us to escalate this more effectively and work toward a solution. We appreciate your patience and cooperation!

Best,

Anshul Saini

Hello Anshul_Saini,
Thank you for quick response.

I do not have any external monitor connected, only working on my laptop (Samsung Galaxy Book3 360) in "tablet mode" (this is the configuration, where I have the keyboard part of laptop folded behind the screen, so it works like a tablet), using only original Samsung S-pen while drawing.

Drivers for S-Pen seems to be up to date.

Also, I have tried to retrieve the crash dump files, from the folder which you have mentioned:

"C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Local\Packages\Adobe.Fresco_pc75e8sa7ep4e\AC\Dumps"

Unfortunately, location don't contain any file or folder.

The problem seems to happen due to 3 key actions. While I'm doing lines with vector brush I often rotate canvas and switching from brush to "brush eraser". This trigger often the crash, especially while moving / rotating canvas or using the "brush eraser" function. Drawing with the vector brush do not trigger the crash. It happen in new or already created document.

Screen recording could be possible, however how do you want it? Actual recording of the screen or via phone recording the whole laptop while drawing? Since the crash is introduced with freeze, from screen recording it might not be apparent.

Hello Anshul_Saini,
I have managed to create a screen recording with the crash while drawing. Also this time it created the crash dump, so I'm sending that also.

Here is the link to the location of screen recording and crash dump file.

I love drawing in Fresco since the Gemini days and it's amazing on the iPad. The app is in a very sad state in Windows. Both versions of Fresco crash when I draw too fast, when I use vector brushes, when I do anything that is normal on the iPad, there's a freeze and a crash.
I complained to the Fresco team at Adobe MAX last year, no response to when there will be an update that makes Fresco usable on Windows.

I have the same experience on Snapdragon Surface 11 Pro and Intel on the ASUS Zenbook Duo. It's hard to recommend Fresco to Windows users.

Hi @ElaborateBeast,

Thanks for sharing the screen recording and crash dump files! I appreciate the effort you put into documenting the issue.

I have logged a bug with our product team for further investigation. Unfortunately, I was unable to reproduce the issue on my end, but your details will be incredibly helpful in diagnosing the problem.

If possible, could you share one of your files where this crash occurs? If it’s confidential, feel free to send it via DM; otherwise, you can share it here. This will help us analyze whether specific file elements contribute to the crash.

Also, @dacreativegenius, I see you’ve experienced similar crashes. When you reported this at Adobe MAX last year, was the issue formally documented, or was it a verbal discussion? If you have any additional details—such as system specs, crash patterns, or files where this issue occurs—please share them. This will help us raise a comprehensive bug report to tackle as many crash scenarios as possible.

Looking forward to your response!

Best,

Anshul Saini

Hi Adobe Support,

I was working on a file in Adobe Fresco over the past two days, and unfortunately, the app suddenly crashed. When I reopened it, all of my progress from the last 24 hours was gone — the file reverted to a much earlier version.

What’s even more concerning is that none of my work from that entire period seems to have been saved. I’m using the latest version of Adobe Fresco (6.3.0) on my iPad. I also checked my Adobe Cloud through the web, and the only available version of the file is from a day ago — which means it hasn’t been saving any progress during all this time.

This is really disappointing, especially after putting in so many hours of work. I’ve already submitted a crash report through the app right after the issue occurred.

Is there any way to recover the lost version of the file or access an autosave/backup?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Maria.

Hi Maria,

Thanks for reaching out. We’re really sorry to hear about this frustrating experience, especially after putting in so many hours of work.

Could you check for a crash dump file to help us investigate further:

Navigate to iPad Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data on your iPad. You will see file names like “JetSam-2025-05-17-083327.ips” (2025-05-17 is the date in the log & 083327 is the time). Ensure you share the recent log file after the crash by looking at the timestamp.

Important Note on File Sync: For larger or more complex files, Fresco typically syncs your progress when you close the file. So if the app crashes before closing the document, and autosave hasn’t kicked in yet, unfortunately, that work might not have made it to the cloud.

That seems to be what happened in your case, and we understand how painful that is.

To help avoid this in the future, we strongly recommend:
 • Closing your file regularly, especially when stepping away for a break or something else, even briefly.
 • This ensures your work syncs to the cloud and keeps it protected.

We’re incredibly sorry, but we cannot recover the lost progress if the file didn’t sync and there’s no updated version in your Adobe Cloud.

Best,
Anshul Saini

Hi @benl14700546, thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble.

If you’re using iOS, please update to Fresco 6.4.1, which was released today and includes important bug fixes.

If you’re on Windows, kindly check my pinned response above. There, you’ll find details on the crash logs and dumps we need. Sharing that information will help the product team investigate and prioritize a fix for the next Windows release.

We appreciate your patience and your help improving the app. Once you upload the logs, let us know, and we’ll escalate this to the team!

Best,

Anshul Saini

Hello, i checked your pinned message, and read the message from @ElaborateBeast  as i'm facing the same situation. Seriously it's been a year and the adobe team does not have any patch for us. I'm feeling disrespected as a long time customer, and this is very hard to work with this product since this issue starts.. 😞

Same thing happens to me, and it keeps crashing no matter what i do.

i have the same line of laptop, but mine is Samsung Book4 370 pro. It could be either the app isn't compatible with the computer, the windows version or both. Which its stressful, it crashing every 10-20min and it ruins tour work flow.

Hello @Nei_cenz,

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with Fresco crashing on your device. Would you mind trying to update the OS(https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/update-windows-3c5ae7fc-9fb6-9af1-1984-b5e0412c556a) and Fresco(https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html) to the latest version and checking if it helps?

Also, kindly reinstall the GPU drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and set the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Fresco (https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-110) and check if it helps.

Additionally, check if all of your work is synced online (https://assets.adobe.com/cloud-documents). If yes, please try resetting Fresco (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/repair-apps-and-programs-in-windows-e90eefe4-d0a2-7c1b-d...) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi @ElaborateBeast,

I have, I'm pretty sure, the exact same issue. On my Asus Proart PX13 2-in-1 laptop.
Just like you, it happens on a canvas movement, most often a rotation. It freezes the same way, then crashes not long after - no error message or anything.
I documented it in more details here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/fresco-discussions/crash-on-canvas-movement-on-asus-proart-px13-%EF%B...

If I (just after making it crash) open Event Viewer, then go to "Windows Logs" and then "Applications", there will be an error in red and some info about the event. For me, the faulty module is always the same: Microsoft.InputStateManager.dll.
I would like to know if it's the same for you.

Have you found a solution since your post? I'm currently looking for one and would greatly appreciate your help.

Thank you very much in advance,
ColonelCandy

Hello @ColonelCandy
I'm sorry but I have already moved to the competition for few months and to be honest I have never been happier, now I do not have any problems. I couldn't wait for the fix, which was known and reported since the preview of the new Windows update preview, as I had to move with my commissions.

Thus, I'm no longer able to provide any more troubleshooting on the topic as I do not have any product from Adobe on any of my computers.
