ADOBE FRESCO SYMMETRY TOOL ALIGNMENT ISSUE & SUGGESTION

New Here ,
Feb 26, 2025 Feb 26, 2025

HI! I DID NOT USE "SHAPES" OR "SELECTION" TOOL TO CREATE CIRCLES JUST SYMMETRY AND ROUND VECTOR BRUSH W/ SHAPE REFINEMENT TURNED OFF.

I HAVE INCLUDED MY ISSUE & A RECOMMENDATION IN PICTS & SOME ADDITIONAL BUGS W/ FRESCO IN THE ENDING STATEMENT. THANKS >

IMG_2321.jpeg

WITH 2 LAYERS > I ATTEMPTED TO CREATE AN EXACT DEGREED MIRRORED CROSS SECTION WITH THE BLACK MIRRORED CIRCLE ON THE TOP/BOTTOM BY "DUPLICATE"ING THE LAYER WITH THE BLACK CIRCLE THEN ROTATING IT CLOCKWISE EXACTLY 90º FROM THE SET MID-AXIS POINT THAT WAS SET TO AN EVEN 0º x 0º PLANE WHERE BOTH DOT POINTS OVERLAPPED IN THE CENTER OF THE LINES USING THE "MOVE GUIDES" OPTION > SINCE I FOUND NO MANUAL INPUT TO LOCK IN THOSE NUMBERS EXACTLY<   AT FIRST GLANCE EACH LEFT/RIGHT BLACK CIRCLE SEEMED TO LIGN UP INTO EQUAL TOP/BOTTOM QUADRANTS ALONG THE HORIZONTAL AXIS BUT THEY DO NOT ALIGN EQUALLY (SEE YELLOW/NOT YELLOW AREAS CIRCLED IN RED) WITH THE OTHER GREEN CIRCLE ELEMENTS CREATED USING JUST THE QUAD GRAPH SYMMETRY TOOL + ROUND VECTOR BRUSH OPTION WITH SNAPPING ELEMENTS TURNED ON>

IMG_2318.jpeg

HERE IS THE OVERLAP AT 500% ZOOM > VERY OBVIOUSLY NOT WORKING CORRECTLY.

IMG_2319.jpeg

IF I AM MISUNDERTSTANDING THE USE OF THESE TOOLS TO CREATE THAT SYMMETRICAL 90º ROTATION MIRRORING BY DOING SOMETHING WRONG WITH AXIS PLZ INFORM ME. OTHERWISE, THIS MAY BE A BUG IN THE SYSTEM.

> THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME. I HAVE SEEN ELEMENTS BE OFF ON RIGHT/LEFT MIRRORING AS WELL. THE ELEMENT WILL LOOK EVEN, THEN TURN OFF SYMMETRY, USING THE TOOL TO FLIP THE ELEMENT AFTER DUPLICATION AND IT ENDS UP NOT BEING EVEN ON ONE SIDE THOUGH OVERLAPPING THE ORIGINAL..LIKE IF MAKING A TRIANGLE. * I'VE SEEN OTHERS WITH THIS ISSUE USING ILLUSTRATOR APP & THEY HAVE THAT ISSUE NOTED IN THE HELP COMMUNITY SECTION AND I NEVER SEE THAT ANSWERED TO COMPLETION AS IF IT IS NOT UNDERSTOOD. IT SEEMS THIS TOOL IS BEING CODED & THEN COPIED OVER BY THE SAME CODE FROM THAT APP/SOFTWARE & ONTO FRESCO RECENTLY.. IF SO..IT MAY BE A REOCCURRING BUG/ ISSUE DUE TO THAT COPY/PASTE OF THE DEVELOPED TOOL & AN INCORRECT CODE SOMEWHERE .. & NOW GUIDES DON'T COPY OVER CORRECTLY WHEN MIRRORING FOR MULTIPLE APPS/SOFTWARES.

I WOULD LOVE TO RELY ON THIS TOOL FOR USE IN CREATING ELEMENTS/PATTERNS FOR MY BUSINESS AND RECOMMEND IT

..UNFORTUNATELY THIS ISSUE +

> COMPLEX FILES WITH MANY LINES THAT YOU CUT & REMAKE, YOU END UP SEEING ARTIFACTING THAT YOU MUST GO IN AND FIX MANUALLY..

> THE EYEDROPPER TOOL NOT FILLING IN THE WHOLE AREAS.. YOU SEE THE SAME COLOR/CODING BUT YOU SELECT THE LINE WORK IN COMPLEX FILES AND THE LINEWORK IS AS CUT UP INTO MULTIPLE SECTIONS AFTER YOU'VE GONE IN AND MADE FIXES.. AS IF NOT ONE COHESIVE COLOR ..AND THERE'S NO GUARANTEE THEY WILL PRINT PROPERLY W/ THOSE ISSUES. I'M NEVER SURE IF I SHOULD GO IN & SELECT ALL THE AREAS, TURN THEM INTO ANOTHER COLOR, THEN BACK TO THE ORIGINAL COLOR AS ONE SOLID COLOR SECTION SELECTION FOR NO ARTIFACTING WHEN I FLATTEN THE FILE TOGETHER...

> SOMETIMES THE EYEDROPPER ERASE A COLOR SELECTION/AREA TOOL FUNCTION STOPS WORKING AFTER IT'S BECOME A COMPLEX FILE ...

= USING THESE PRODUCTS CAN BECOME DIFFICULT AND TIME-WASTING WHEN THESE THINGS HAPPEN. NO IDEA IF ANY OF THESE THINGS CAN BE FIXED .. BUT I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THESE ISSUES SMOOTHED OUT B/C I HAVE USED ADOBE PRODUCTS FOR AT LEAST 25 YRS OFF/ON AND CARE TO SEE THEM BE ACCESSABLE & USABLE FOR ARTISTS WORKING FROM HOME FOR THEMSELVES 🙂

SORRY, TIRED > TO BE CLEAR > THE MIRRORING OF THE GREEN DIDN'T MIRROR CORRECTLY,  IF THE 0º POINT ACCESS ROTATED THE BLACK CIRCLES IN A PERFECT CIRCLE. > THE BOTTOM GREEN CIRCLES CREATED BY THE MIRRORING SYMMETRY TOOL ARE NOT SITTING EXACTLY EQUAL WHEN THEY SHOULD BE REFLECTING THE TOP EXACTLY... CAUSING THE YELLOW/NOT YELLOW OVERLAP SITUATION. HENCE WHY I BELIEVE WHEN IT AUTO-CREATES WHERE YOUR LINES MIRROR, IT IS AUTO-ADDING THEM TO THE WRONG POINT ON THE GRID! POSSIBLY A BUG IN THE CODING? HOPE THIS HELPS IF YOU DON'T GET THE ABOVE DISCUSSION..?

Got it - thank you for the clarification! What you're describing makes a lot of sense now. It seems like the mirroring symmetry tool isn’t correctly aligning the green elements across the 0º access point, and as a result, the bottom green circles aren't reflecting the top ones perfectly. That misalignment would definitely explain the yellow/not yellow overlap issue you're seeing.

If the black circles are rotating perfectly around the center, then the issue likely isn’t with the rotational logic but specifically with how the mirrored elements are being positioned — possibly offset from the intended anchor point on the grid. It could indeed be a bug, especially if the tool is auto-placing mirrored elements in a slightly incorrect location rather than directly in opposition.

Thanks again for breaking it down - this really helps pinpoint where things might be going off. Definitely sounds worth reporting or checking deeper into the code logic if you’re able.

It seems like a possible bug is affecting symmetry, mirroring, and color tools in Adobe Fresco. Complex files cause artifacting, broken fills, and eyedropper issues, making workflow inefficient. Reporting to Adobe or checking updates may help.

Hey @BeccaBEGRAPHIC,

Thanks for taking the time to detail your experience—it really helps identify these issues properly. I hear your frustration, and I completely understand how crucial precision is, especially when you’re using these tools for professional work.

From what you’re describing, it does seem like a potential bug with the symmetry tool’s alignment logic, particularly when mirroring elements across a set axis. The fact that Illustrator users have reported similar issues.

Would it be possible for you to create a screen recording of this behavior so I can show it to our product team?

I truly appreciate your long-time support of Adobe’s tools, and I hope we can get these issues smoothed out for you.

Looking forward to your message, and I’ll do my best to help!

Best,

Anshul Saini
