As indicated in the header. Is this possible or does it have to be converted to a PSD first?

Hi!
Just press photo icon on the left side of the toolbar in Fresco ( after you have chosen your document size and you have entered the work zone) then after pressing the photo icon, it gives you option to import jpeg from your chosen folder.

Oh yeah, you can import it to Fresco.  I do it all the time.  The only thing that might keep it from importing is if the color space isn't RGB or if the file size is larger than a certain amount. I can't think of it off the top of my head.
