How to find Adobe CS5.5 Design Standard for download ???

Goodmorning.

I am writing this post here as Adobe representatives are not very helpful by phone and I am out of ideas. I hope I can get more results with any representatives in the forum.

I bought the physical Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Standard Student and Teacher Edition, Windows 7, in Dutch language for my son (client 0284436485), and he went through the procedures for academic status review. On April 5, 2012 Adobe sent us the confirmation of acceptance and the serial number by email.

After buying him a new laptop a few weeks ago he needed to reinstall the CS 5.5 but I can not find back the DVD. On Sep. 9 I called the Adobe support number in Belgium explaining and asking for a download link or a new DVD of the CS5.5 or any other help and the representative told me they did not have a download link for the CS 5.5 nor was there a way for me to order a replacement DVD.

He told me however there were two solutions:

1. Buy the CS6 upgrade which would validate my CS5.5!!!!

2. Go on the web, find ANY copy of the CS 5.5 Dutch and activate it with my Adobe serial, which would make it genuine.

I even got these 2 points in a support_noreply email confirming my phone contact with them. Of course, he was much more explicit by phone concerning point 2.

I just wanted to say that, apart from the completely useless discussion I had with this representative, I find it scandaluous that Adobe representatives propose to genuine customers to go find a pirate copy on the web and to validate this copy with the Adobe serial number. When telling the representative over the phone that I was not proficient in picking up soft from the web and that I read that many softs are "contaminated" with virus, etc. he said this would be a risk to take and that I should inform me more on the web.

Please, all I want to know is: I spent 300+ € on Adobe CS5.5 Design Standard Student and Teacher Edition, I lost the physical DVD - this can happen to anyone (we did move homes in August) - and I need to reinstall the soft on a new laptop HP dv7. How to get a back up of the software for which I paid (CS5.5 Dutch) and this without accepting the Adobe representative's "solution" which is making us buy the CS6 upgrade (another few 100 euros more). I did try the solution as described on prodesigntools but it is not working for me. Time is running, academic years has started againsince a few weeks and my son is missing a very useful and helpful tool.

Thanks for reading and any help or hint would be appreciated.

I understand that you dont trust free downloads over the internet but still if you wish to you can try downloading the product from here. Probably blaming Adobe Support here would not be the best thing. Adobe ships new products and then stops providing media for the older one periodically and i think that is OK. Many people have tried downloading from here and they have been successful.

    Hey there .o/

You can try and see if the download managers here : ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/creativesuite/cs5/win/ still work.

I was pretty sure the CS 5.5 suite trial (which can be activated with a serial) was available in full from Adobe's FTP, but either I'm mistaken or they deleted it. Anyway, if this doesn't work, maybe I will be able to upload it somewhere for you — we have that at my work.

Hi. Thank you so much. I was able to download the 3 files and unpack them. However, when I launch the installer, I see the green line moving to the right and then nothing, disappears from screen and nothing starts. The same with the 3 files.

    Greetings,
