I have downloaded from the Adobe website the Windows version of Adobe CS5.5 Master Collection onto my computer and can get the programs to run only if I install as a trial version. I have a legitimate for serial number for Master Collection. The installer clearly displays the words Adobe CS5.5 Master Collection in the top left corner of the installer. There is a drop down menu to select product, but while I can see other CS5.5 products, none of these menu items is Master Collection. I also tried using the serial number one product at a time, by installing InDesign, I can see the product up and running on my computer, but according to the installer: "The serial number you entered is valid but a qualifying product cannot be found on this computer".
I also did try opening the adobe site while logged in, I don't know if that is the same as Adobe Live. Are CS5.5 Master Collection products connected to the CS live? I tried to register through that and got the message ''Could not start your CS Live subscription, try again later''.

That "sounds" like you have installed an upgrade version, and the activation process is asking for the serial number for your previous product to prove you qualify for the upgrade
What shows in your account history?
https://accounts.adobe.com/ then click Plans & Products at the top to find a list of your programs and serial numbers

Thanks. My account says under the Products tab I have a serial number for Adobe Creative Suite 3 and a serial number for Adobe CS5.5 Master Collection.

I tried the Adobe Creative Suite 3 serial number on the CS5.5 Indesign Trial Version and it was an invalid serial number for that product. InDesign was part of the CS3 package I had earlier.

Around 2013 I installed Adobe CS5.5 onto a new laptop via download and was told by customer service to use the CS3 serial number, I think that is how it happened. I have one desktop and I'm not running adobe on any other computers, past laptops and pc's have broken down and I couldn't remove software.
