Having had problems with macOS (Sierra) Photoshop CS6 is complaining that one of more files in the application folder is missing, and telling me I must reinstall photoshop. I've downloaded the current CS6 dmg file, but when I open it and try to run the Installer it gives the following message - Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to a missing file. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem. The link provided
takes me to a page which tells me that this is discontinued.
I have my serial number etc. How do I achieve the install? I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere but I'm going in circles around the Adobe Help pages.
Thanks for the help

Hi Chezadw,
As you have mentioned that you are getting error message "Installer failed to initialize" while trying to install Adobe Photoshop CS6, In addition to what kglad has suggested i would recommend you to follow the troubleshooting steps shared here as well: Installing Creative Suite on macOS 10.12 (Sierra).
Let us know if this helps.

even though your error message may not seem related to the issue discussed in this link, try it:
if you still see the 'installer failed to initialize' error:
start at the top and work your way down applying applicable fixes until your problem is resolved.
if cc (win): https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-desktop-application-failed.html
if, your error is:
"Installer failed to initialize. File not found." or "Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to missing files."
first, rename OOBE Folder to OOBE.old.
to find OOBE:
64 bit win OS: Program Files x86\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE
32 bit win OS: Program Files \Common Files\Adobe\OOBE
mac os: HD>library>application support>adobe>caps
mac os: USER>library>application support>adobe>OOB
if that fails or isn't the exact error you see, uninstall, clean (http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html) and reinstall.
if you're using a dvd to install:
copy the disc contents to a desktop directory and install from that directory.
if you're using a mac:
1. Try to Create a new user account in Mac with Administrator Priviledges.
2. Login to the New user, Navigate to Mac HD> Application> Utilities> Adobe Installer folder, Locate products like Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash, Adobe Air and un-install them
3. Navigate to User Library> Application Support> Adobe and move Adobe to Trash.
4. Navigate to Mac HD> Library> Application Support> Adobe and move Adobe to Trash.
5. Start the installation again.
if everything applicable above fails, check your installation logs:

Thanks to both for the responses. As the response from Bani looked a very simple one to test (and if it succeeded meant I could get on Photoshopping without more investigation) I tried it first and it worked perfectly. I have no idea why my searches didn't find the Sierra page indicated - very clear.
Thanks for the help @kglad. As Bani's worked I'm afraid I didn't try your suggestions but I'm grateful
