need to install Photoshop CS5 on New computer.

New Here ,
Feb 05, 2015 Feb 05, 2015

so i found the disk that had Photoshop CS3

i installed that and i get a screen that says to the effect: Your version of CS3 indicates that this was an update from a previous version. Enter information about a qualifying product.

so i went and found my purchase history in my account profile, and got the serial number for which i thought was the previous product. that being Creative Suite Std.

i entered that serial number, and it tells me its incorrect.

what to do? what to do?

UPDATE: i found my Photoshop CS5 disk and installed from there. I now have issues when i go to the "Help" pull-down menu, and select "Updates".

it says i need to update Bridge, Extensions Manager, Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw.

so i click "update"

and then it tells me there were errors updating and i should try later.

i guess i'll try later

UPDATE-2: at the bottom of the "Updates" window, where i tried updating all of these things, there is a "contact customer support" link. and when i click on that i go to a screen that says:

Error "This serial number is not for a qualifying product..." when installing an upgrade or upsell

now i'm kind of getting aggravated. i'm going to sleep.

thanks for all your help, i'll check back later to see if any of you posted some info.

Try updating manually if the automatic approach is failing you (it fails me, always has... but I just ignore it because the programs are usually ones I don't use anyways)

It is not clear from your story which software you are trying to install.  If it is CS5 then what you normally do is first enter the CS5 serial number.  If it is an upgrade version then you will be prompted to enter the version and serial number of the qualifying version, which based on your story might be CS3 and its serial number... if CS3 is what you owned before you purchase the CS5 upgrade.

thanks for your reply ned, and no, its not very clear. i was kind of tired and confused as to what was going on.

from my adobe purchase history i bought:

Creative Suites Std - 2.0 - January 24, 2006

then upgraded to:

Adobe Photoshop - CS3 - September 5, 2007

and finally upgraded to:

Adobe Photoshop Extended - CS5 - October 16, 2011

My hard drive crapped out a couple weeks ago. forcing me to replace it, and reinstall software. i found the Photoshop CS3 .dmg file on a disk that i had burned. but when i tried installing it, it said that it was only an upgrade version, and a serial number for the original was needed. so i tried entering the serial number for Creative Suites Std 2.0. That didn't work.

Then i found another disk with the Adobe Photoshop Extended CS5 version. That installed properly when i entered its serial number.

But then i went to search for updates under the "Help" pull-down menu. I was told that i need to update Bridge, Extensions Manager, Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw.

I try to update and get the message:

The following updates were unable to install. If you wish to install these updates, please fix the problems below and retry:

Adobe Bridge CS5 4.0.5 Update

There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.

Adobe Extension Manager CS5 5.0 Update

There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.

Photoshop 12.0.4 update for Photoshop CS5

There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.

  Photoshop Camera Raw 6.7 Update

There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.

Contact Customer Support for further assistance.

So i click on the "Contact Customer Support" link, and i'm taken to this page:
