Senior discount for long term users

Explorer ,
Apr 04, 2023 Apr 04, 2023

After having used Adobe since Adobe's birth, which is a very long time, I think long term users should be provided with a discounted plan option similar to students. Creatives usually continue to be creative (and by the way communicate their preference for companies) long after retirement. These projects may not provide any financial gain.

Adobe products are not merely a business tool but a way of life. Adobe should help support the creative community that has supported them for many years.

Hi everyone. We don't have a program in place right now unfortunately. We're evaluating the feasibility of a program like this if we were to add it in the future.

i'm not sure desktop ideas is the best place for plan suggestions/ideas, but it may be the best you can do.  check to be sure,

for applicable apps, you can make (some) suggestions to adobe here, https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/x-productkb/global/how-to-user-voice.html

for others, use https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

Been using Adobe products for over 10+ years.  Even paid for a photography subscription when it was the only option.  You would think a discount for seniors now would be a good idea?  Not for Adobe.  I guess they must be a poor or borderline bankrupt company who can not afford to do so.  Even those who still need it but can no longer justify the cost on a retirement income.  Way to help your longtime customers Adobe!

This sounds like my thoughts on the same topic !.

I am looking up at a shelf with DVD's of the earliest versions of Adobe Premiere and Encore, Audition etc collecting dust now so probably should be in a museum.

Thing is ..... when you retire we don't all stroll around museums all day twiddling our thumbs - we actually getout there and create videos / photographs and support charitable organisations all as a hobby.

As KathyRK has pointed out - we are not doing this as a business and the current fees are very high when you are running on a much lower income, but still want to be able to create with Adobe Software.

Surely there is an argument to introduce reduced fees for retired users ?.

Adobe are missing a marketing trick here as I have tried to get my retired friends (who are into Video / Photography) interested in Adobe software subscriptions, but all have dismissed it on the grounds of cost.

Time to look at this again please Adobe Marketing team since as loyal users I think we have funded the Adobe pot sufficiently already.

If Cloud Desktop is not the best place for this proposal - where should it go as there is no ideal category?.

I just looked on Creative Cloud Services but there is still no 'Ideas/Feature request' tab for that.

The links you suggested above take you straight back here.

The 'Wishform' does not exist now and this takes you back to the normal community top level page.

This topic is more of a commercial discussion and needs to be elevated to the Senior Product Management team for Cloud Services encompassing the whole Adobe suite to which we subscribe.

Many of the  'senior user community ' have purchased software in the past - now collecting dust on the shelf - but represents a significant investment over the years ( pic attached) plus the ongoing subscription fees.

Buying software in a box - now who would do that ?

Maybe we should hold a competition to see who can send a photo of the tallest stack of Adobe Product SW boxes .......

there's no place for business proposals which should convey adobe's interest.

So what you are saying (in principle) is that Adobe don't understand the concept of customer retention and customer loyalty.

Let's just keep on ripping the guys off ......

you can draw your own inferences but don't ascribe them to me.

So my apologies if my response was not appropriate.

I think what I should have said was that I agree with your comment that Adobe should have a place on the Community Forum to see proposals/ideas from all sectors of their user community that might benefit their business long term.

My original response was probably not very well constructed, and not meant to cause offence.

It would be good however,  to see Adobe acknowledge loyalty of long term customers and keep an open mind on the upside this can bring to everyone.

Super! You could look at a discounted fee for number of years used. I know a senior fee might cause all sorts of issues in managing.

Absolutely! I can't bear the thought of not having the programs I've used all my life! Well maybe not since birth (LOL), but close. I'm retired, I still love to play with my photos and design cards, etc.

Adobe, please consider the seniors that used and paid for your software for years. We deserve the discount that students receive at least.

I "retired" at the end of 2024. I have used Adobe products faithfully since the first version of Adobe Illustrator was released! It is part of my existence to use Adobe products, but now that there is no steady stream of income, the cost to keep up a Creative Cloud account is prohibitive. Yet trying to purchase ala carte subscriptions of the 5 applications I use most to continue the pro bono work I'm doing periodically is actually more costly than a CC subscription, so that's not a solution. Wondering if Adobe would consider a more streamlined package that includes Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro and Adobe Fonts, with no access to the myriad other applications I currently have access to but never use. That would be great, meet my needs (and probably those of other retired designers) and could be offered at a lesser cost than a full CC subscription. Please consider this and keep your long-standing customers. Thanks!

@MCarioti and others,

as a work-around, you might consider enrolling in a class in an accredited community college which would entitile you to a student discount (which is substantial).

Agreed! As a freelance designer and educator about to retire, I want to continue using Adobe CC for community projects and creative non-paying work. I have been a subscriber for many years, with an educator discount for the last few. But I have been advised that my next subscription will double, to over $1200 AUD!! That's a big chunk of money to find from a retirement income. So... the less you can afford it, the more it costs. That equation doesn't seem right to me.

Pity, as I would love to keep using Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. I could pay for just one of those, but as soon as I want more than one, the cost is almost as much as a full plan. I know Adobe needs to make a profit, but in my opinion, such price gouging is not justified. So, as well as a retired member price, I suggest a flexible 'build your own plan' option.

Right you are KathyRK, I've been a licensed used of Adobe ever since Fast Eddy in 1991 (Adobe Photoshop 2 for those  not born with the dinosaurs).  Getting an unexpected email this morning that Creative Cloud Pro has jumped to $69.99 U.S. a month. That means $74.88 monthly ...  this 71 y/o photographer just got corporately mugged.  Time to look for alternative software.
