Thats true! Most art creation software have perspective tools built in , why not the king of art creation software photoshop?

Sketchbook Pro has a built-in perspective tool that can be adjusted to one-point and two-point linear perspective. The horizon line can be placed dynamically, even diagonally, to create a dutch angle.

Thank you for your reply. So carapace creates jpeg/png grids you copy and paste, but you can't snap draw in perspective with it or interact with it in photoshop. There is a difference there!  The foremention apps like Lazy Nizumi I would say are better , but similarly are Windows only so Mac users cant use it just like carapace. Also because it isn't native inside of photoshop there's limitations like having to recreate a new grid everytime you open a file and it not being exactly the same. Perspective Tools by sergey is the best 3rd party solution but doesnt have snap drawing ability.

Though as someone working in the industry professionally I rememeber when carapace first came out. I beleive it inspired procreate to further develope their perspective grid actually. But ultimately, photoshop has symmetry drawing tools, the next step would be perspective drawing tools, like what adobe fresco has but built for professional desktop use inside photoshop. They can do it for sure. Perspective is a fundamental part of all art forms. Very important

Would be amazing to get some these more artist based updates like this in photoshop. Especially with the focus on AI and how its dominating the market and ending jobs, empowering artist with more tools to "create" art would be great. Plus perspective is the foundation of everything in art you see, its highly overlooked!

+1. For a perspective drawing tool within photoshop. It would be great for Adobe to spend some of it's development budget on non AI features like this. I have requested this feature for years but have had to rely on other programmes such  Corel Painter, Sketchbook and Procreate for easily drawing architectural perspectives, shapes including ellipses etc. Maybe one day.

Especially since Fresco does it natively

would be amazing to have a built in perspective tool in photoshop. Theres a million work arounds I read over the years and my favorite is perspective tools v2 for making grids guides or just shape tool for that but this should be built in photoshop. For example,  I was drawing a lot of backgrounds per week on an animated movie for a major studio and we had to use rulers on our cintiq screens because photoshop doesnt have a built in perspective grid drawing tool.  And to ddeutsch33 excellent point, most art software has this even fresco does, though I perfer making art in photoshop. It would be nice for photoshop to evolve now and have this as well.  Especially for professionals who need to work quickly/effectively or anyone for that matter who does background work. People asked for a symmetrical drawing feature and it took for ever before adobe added it, but for some reason they stopped there.

A tiny clarification on Trevor's excellent point:

  • Illustrator supports angled guides. Any path can be converted to a guide and any guide can be converted to a path.
  • Photoshop does not support angled guides.
  • Guides that are copied from Illustrator and pasted into Photoshop will be Photoshop paths.

Hi Corey.  I am a big fan of Lazy Nezumi, and especially its perspective tools, but as you say, it is not available for Mac systems, and Guillaim, the author of LNP says it is never liikely to be.  I can tell you how Bert Monroy does perspective, and he is a Mac user.  Bert is the man behind the huge Times Square and Amsterdam illustrations.

Bert has two approaches. He uses Illustrator to create guides that show where shadows and light will fall, and transfers them to Photoshop.

For perspective he sets up a series of three point workpaths with the center point intersecting the vanishing point.

He then strokes those guides with a one or two pixel fully hard brush to create guides.

The vanising point should be on the horizon, so my two point perspective below should have both vanising points on the same horizontal guide.  I am a wee bit out which means a: I was not careful enough, or b) there is something going on like a an incline.  You would also set up a path for the verticals in this scene.
