Add objects to existing opacity mask?

Is it possible to add objects to an existing opacity mask without:

 

1. releasing the mask

2. adding the new object to the group, and

3. reapplying the mask?

Open transparency panel. Select the object. click the miniature of the mask. Edit it. Click on the object icon afterwards.

You can (also) expand the Group in the Layers palette and drag the object up/down into the desired place in the stacking order within the mask.
