Adobe Illustrator Line thickness issue

New Here ,
Jul 29, 2018 Jul 29, 2018

Hi guys, I have an issue with Illustrator that I can't seem to solve and would love some help if possible please!

So basically my black line-work when I zoom in and out changes from being thinner and thicker, and when I export the image, the black lines appear to be really thin and it's very annoying as when I export the image I want the black lines to be thick, not thin.

See attached images, thanks in advance!

You can change the linewidth by selecting a thin line and choosing Select > Same > Stroke Weight and increase the stroke weight.

Please upload screenshots directly to the forum.

What kind of file do you export?

What kind of stroke do you use? A normal stroke, variable width, a brush?

Just how thick is it? And how large is the artwork?

In case this is exported as a PDF - which app do you use for viewing?

Apologies,
I export in PNG format, with anti-aliasing in 300dpi

I use a calligraphic brush with max pressure

And normally 1pt thick, but the lines that thin out when I export the file are the thin lines (Facial hair) which are 0.25 and 0.50

I view the images in paint and paint 3D, the images look the same regardless of the app

Thanks

WHen you select > View > Preview on CPU - does the Illustrator preview then look more like the exported version?

I don't think it changes it, because when I switch it to CPU preview and zoom in and out it still does it, I will just draw the lines thicker but thanks for your help!

0,25 and a 0,5 pt lines are very thin, even when exported at 300 ppi.

You must make them thicker in Illustrator.
