Adobe Illustrator will not open PNG files anymore

Illustrator has stopped letting me open PNG files. I never had an issue before until maybe a few days ago. I've tried every way I can think of to open it; right clicking on the image in the desktop, file open in illustrator, etc. No matter what I do, the file just will not open. Illustrator doesn't even give me an error or anything, the image simply just does not open in Illustrator.

Hello Anshul,

Can you please help me role back from 25.4.8 to 25.4.7? I can not bring PNG files in. I also can not get any FX to be visible. When I insert an FX, go to the appearnce tab and double click on the FX nothing happens, no panel opens. If I double click on anything else in appearnce such as opacity, a small box (as expected) will open and let me adjust settings.

I am on Mac 10.14.6 Mojave. A 2012 Mac Pro. I can not update. I need to roll back to a previous version.
