Hello,
if I understand correctly, CSS styles are a copy of Character Styles, which do not contain alignment information. Only Paragraph Styles do. But Paragraph Styles are not connected in any way to CSS properties.
So, how to add text alignment in CSS styles, in order to be properly exported?
Thank you.
Harun.
I'm so sorry - I was in InDesign instead of Illustrator.
You are right - Illustrator doesn't export paragraph styles.
There are no block elements at all ( div, p, h1 - h6, ol and so on). There are only appearance properties but no semantic tags.
I think it is because this CSS feature is meant for the layout appearance only - colors and positions.
If you for example have a 2 line headline then Illustrator doesn't recognice it being a headline. Illu sees only characters with font, color and size pro

Why do you think so?
CSS styles include paragraph styles.

Maybe I do not understand how actually CSS works with Illustrator. What I see in CSS Properties panel is Character Style, bot not the Paragraph Style. And when I select "Export all" from the CSS panel, no alignment info is exported. How to export even alignment info?

Thank you. CSS in Illustrator CC is total b***shit. There is no even HTML export, this is wrong way to appeal to designers.

The CSS Properties panel seems to ignore Paragraph Styles and only sees Character Styles. Character Styles seem to have precedence in Illustrator. Seems to me that the CSS Properties should work with both, unless I'm doing something wrong.
BTW, the Export for Web (Legacy) still can send forth an html page, although I don't know of a way to have the type live. I don't know whether you can have it export html5 or just older html4.
Anyone know better?

It's called Legacy for a reason. It has nothing to do with modern authoring. The feature is about 15 years old and HTML5 is completely beyond its abilities.
If you want to have a decent HTML page, just don't use Save for Web (Legacy). Use a decent editor to write HTML, not Illustrator.

Monica, do you have any insight into why paragraph styles don't make code in Illustrator?

No, I don't.
Generally type styling in Illustrator works a little differently than in other applications.
