Anyone know a way to turn off ligatures by default in Illustrator

Since an upgrade to Windows 10, Adobe Illustrator has the OpenType feature of Standard Ligatures turned on be default, so existing files that never had ligatures now have them when you open them. Is there a way to have them turned off by default?

Hi Nancy, I am familiar with help articles, and be sure that I checked there first. Sure, if you have text selected you can turn ligatures off and on, but it still does not answer the question of whether the can be turned off universally and kept off as a default.

Ligatures on/off are determined by the default Normal Character style an Normal Paragraph style in your preset document.

You will need to create or modify a New Document Preset file with ligatures turned off.
