New Here ,
Jul 06, 2022 Jul 06, 2022

Ive contacted apple. They tell me to contact Adobe Illustrator. Adobe tells me its Apple mouse issue. Some im kinda stuck in the middle not sure what to do. Ive alwys used the zoom with scroll wheel option when working with illustrator. But for some reason ive checked all the settings they are all correct. But still wont work with apple magic mouse 2. Ive connected other mouse and they work with wheel scrool. Its only the apple mouse. Small but frustrating issue. Please help.

Hi @Joseph25137792rlzu,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing. Would you mind confirming and trying a few things:

  • Please confirm if you are able to scroll in other non-adobe apps or not.
  • Please confirm if "Zoom with Mouse Scroll" is checked or not. If yes, and you are still facing the issue, then uncheck it and press the opt + mouse scroll to zoom to check whether it is working.

  • Close all the background apps and check.
  • Try running the app in Safe Mode  (Mac) & Root account (Mac) to check if you are able to zoom or not.
  • If that doesn't help, then try resetting the preferences manually (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfOCy-uehps).

Let us know how it goes. I will be looking forward to your response.

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul Saini

Yes, I am able to scroll in other apps other than Adobe apps.

Yes, I am aware theres a scroll with wheel button and it is checked on. I also have tried other mouse other than the apple magic mouse 2 and it works. It only doesn't work with apple magic mouse. Makes it inconvinent to carry around 2 mouse just for Adobe Illustrator.

Yes, Ive done all these task with customer service taking over my computer and still cant solve the issue.

Thanks for trying the steps and getting back to us. I checked the support team has already escalated your case to the product team. In the meantime, would you mind trying a couple of steps:

  • Go to System Preference > Accessibility > Mouse & Trackpad (older macOS) Point & Click (latest macOS)
    > Mouse Options and enable the Scrolling checkbox and select the without inertia option on the drop-down menu.
  • Go to System Preference > Accessibility > Point & Click > Mouse Options.
If the Tracking speed slider is set to an extremely slow speed, try adjusting it and see if that helps or not.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Anshul Saini

Hi there!

I have the same problem and tried all the above with no luck.

It's incredibile how a very easy thing like this one is not accessible to be honest.

Thanks

Pietro

Hi @Pietro Spina,

Thanks for reaching out, and try the steps. Would you mind confirming if pressing opt + scrolling with the mouse help in zooming? Also, would you mind confirming if "Zoom with Mouse Scroll" is checked or not under Ai preferences > General?

I will be looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Anshul Saini

I had "Zoom With Mouse Wheel" preference On, and zooming didn't work (which is why I arrived at this help forum).
I turned the preference Off and now zooming with Option+scroll on Magic Mouse 2 works. No idea why.

Omg THANK YOU, your comment saved me. UNCHECKING "Zoom with mouse wheel" also worked for me... so intuitive 🫠

This worked for me, too. By default, it was unchecked and did not work. Then I checked, it still did not work. Then I unchecked again and voila - it works. Super confusing.
