Artwork won't align to centre of artboard

I can't get my artwork to align to the centre of an artboard, it keeps happening with different artwork. I have some shapes all selected on the same layer, align to artboard selected, not align to selection. It throws the artwork off the canvas. It feels like a position where the canvas may have been previously. It feels like a bug but maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Do you only have one artboard when you look in your artboards panel? Just want to be sure it's not centering on another artboard in your document. If it's only one artboard, have you restarted Illustrator? If that doesn't fix it, you can reset your preferences and that may fix it. Hope that helps!

The answer provided for this question doesn't help. I'm dealing with either a similar issue or precisely the same one — despite resetting my preferences and restarting Illustrator. I have *one* art board, and despite my artwork having been positioned within it to my liking, the finished result once saved has the artwork placed to the far right of the page.

I have the same problem. It's in every AI file, not just one. I keep aligning the design to the artboard and it keeps sending it outside the artboard. I can't even get it to work properly. I also tried aligning it to the selection, but it's still the same. Did someone find a solution?

Thanks for reaching out and for sharing your experience. I just tested this on my side using the latest Illustrator 30.0 on Windows and the alignment is working correctly here, so I would love to gather a bit more detail to understand what is different on your setup.

Could you please let me know the exact Illustrator version and the operating system you are using? When you get a moment, please also try resetting the Illustrator preferences manually and let me know if that changes anything for you. Ref:

If the issue continues after that, a short screen recording showing the full workflow would be really helpful. Also please confirm whether this happens in every file or only in specific documents.
