Asset Export scaling bug

Explorer ,
Jan 19, 2017 Jan 19, 2017

I'm experiencing a bug with the new 'Asset Export' feature from Adobe Illustrator CC 2017. The scaling of the assets return strange sizes with 1px offsets in some cases. It does not always happen and not always for the same scales. I'm using an icon from the Material Design icon pack to demonstrate this. I've downloaded a 24x24px svg (1x) file and opened in Illustrator for this demo, placed it aligned to the pixel grid, created a Symbol from it and then just exported it using the Asset Export palette and instead of getting the expected:

(1x) 24x24, (1.5x) 36x36, (2x) 48x48, (3x) 72x72 and (4x) 96x96 px

get these sizes:

(1x) 24x24, (1.5x) 37x36, (2x) 48x48, (3x) 73x72 and (4x) 97x96 px

Here is a demo:

You will have to make sure that your edges are in whole pixels. Check the values in the Information panel and make sure that they are not shown with decimal values greater than 0.4.

If you looked at the attached video you will see that they are, as I am highlighting them. And even if there really arent, then Ai is showing them as if they were and the output is different than the expected one which makes it a bug that needs to be addressed.

Sorry, but I refuse to sign up for an unnecessary app just to view a video.

Does anyone know solution for this? I have artboard with size in whole pixels, position of the artboard in whole pixels. Shape is smaller than artboard. But still while scaling i get files 1px off. Why? And how to fix that?

I've checked them all

I ended up with two files with artboards in different size to avoid this bug.

I dont think the art board itself has anything to do with it.

Make sure that absolutely every bit of the artwork is bang on pixels.  This includes the X/Y "position" of every elements not just the W/H dimensions.

Some curves and effects can also mess it up if near the edges. In some cases I've just made a brand new symbol and made sure it's all rinkey dink.
