I'm trying to create a graph in Adobe Illustrator where multiple lines share the same x-axis. Google Docs automatically does it and it looks something like this (below). In this case, the first column is the x-axis and all subsequent columns are independent lines. When I put in the values in adobe illustrator's graph tool, all of the columns are treated as separate lines. Adobe automatically assigns the x-axis and i can't get the same "U" shape curve that i get in the graph below.
Thanks for any help (and I'm new to this forum so please let me know if I didn't ask the question appropriately. Thank you!)

Illustrator adds the values to create the area graph.
You could try the line graph and then ungroup and edit it to add the shapes below the lines.

I'm new to illustrator. can you give me a bit more detail about how that would be done?

You would create a line graph and then Ungroup it.
(afterwards the data is no longer editable)
Then you can edit the graph and use the drawing tools to add the lines you need to colorize the graph.
Please see the documentation on how to use the drawing tools.
