Hi All,
I have searched high and low, and have yet to find a script that will accomplish this task. I am in need of a script that will change Illustrator's default 72 dpi, to 300 dpi so I can print a series of (about 200) respectable looking images. They also need to be exported to jpg.
Is this possible to do in batch?
I have tried countless approaches. The closest I have come is using Graphic Converter Pro, unfortunately it cannot change the dpi from 72 to 300 (as far as I could tell). Any help is greatly appreciated. I have access to Mac OS and Windows. I've been trying to tackle this for quite some time. Thank you!

Im confused as what you are wanting to do here… But in short Illustrator exports to 72 dpi so your answer could be no… Do you just need to change the resolution of images or do you need to up sample images?

It might take two steps. Export the file as a JPEG setting the horizontal and vertical scales to 416.667% and then batch in PS to reduce the size to 25% without resampling.

Larry, wouldn't that result in the same a just having Photoshop just resize res to 300 without resample? I suspect the OP may not have Photoshop if they are using Graphic Converter to open the images…

Hi, thanks for your responses. I do have Photoshop. What I am trying to do is take about 100 .ai files and export them to .jpg. However, they are going to be printed, and any sort of batch export as .jpg I have tried so far has resulted in substantial resolution (72 dpi). I am well aware of how to change the resolution for exporting each file individually, however what I want to do is batch the whole process together. I will try the resizing approach. Thanks both of you!

Have your printers requested 300 dpi raster image over your vector art?

I am printing to a Konica Minolta bizhub C550. The sizes of the .ai files I send to it (even small .ai files) take ages to print. Not sure why, but it has always been like this.
Converting the files to .jpg format has been the only solution for getting pages printed within the day.

Photoshop will read your *.ai files as if they are *.pdf so you could just batch an open and rasterize there… That way they opened at 300 dpi
