Can I bypass the templates when creating a new document?

Hi all! I'm on a Mac running CC 2017. This isn't a huge deal, but it slowing me down, so I thought it was worth researching. I recently upgraded to the newest CC. My work flow goes like this:

I open an SVG file created dynamically online. I copy it and create a new document in Illustrator to paste the contents from the SVG file in to it. Before the upgrade, I'd hit Command N. Then I'd hit enter (because the size was already set the last time I created the same type of file). My new document would be open and I'd paste into it.

But now... if I hit Command N and then enter... the "Move" palette appears. I then have to cancel out of the new document/template window, then close out of the Move palette. If I sit and wait for the new document/template window to load, then I can hit "create" and the new document is create and the Move palette doesn't pop up. But... this takes a few seconds. Which doesn't sound like much, but I'm used to just doing it... and not waiting patiently. I'm thinking this has something to do with loading the templates in the new document window. Is there a way to not have those show up? Any other ideas?

Thanks.

You can turn on the "Use Legacy File New Interface" option in the Preferences to get the old behaviour.

Thanks so much, Ton! That did the trick. I swear I looked all through the preferences, but I missed that one!

I turned it on myself too. I also turned off the "Show The Start Workspace When No Documents Are Open" option.

When it's on, new artboards are not centered and I have to use Cmd 0 (Fit Artboard in Window) to have them centered. Turn the option off and they are automatically centered.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that, too.

Thank heavens for that! The new interface is not user friendly at all.
