Can no longer "print to pdf" print diaglog box no working correctly

In the last 30 minutes, all of a sudden I cannot to print to pdf.  The print diaglog box is not working correctly.  I have a saved preset for doing so, when I click on the named preset it jumps back to custom.  I cannot recreate the preset as it requires the media size to be set as custom, but custom is now grayed out.

Does Save As PDF work?

Yes, (as does "save as copy"), but that's not what I want to do.  Everything we create has an .ai file and then a .pdf for printing puposes.  Using save as, creates a problem as it then opens the .pdf in illustrator and too easy to make a correction in the pdf file instead of the native file.  save as a copy is great if it only wouldn't add the word copy to the file.  And I tried other files, it's not just the one in particular I was working on.

I just want it to work the way it has always worked.  It worked 4 or 5 times earlier today. Either something broke or I hit something somewhere to cause the problem but imagine what it might have been.!

I don't know why it stopped working, I have not printed to PDF for ages.

It is easy to set up a PDF preset that does not include Illustrator editing capabilities and opens (or does not) in Acrobat.

Well, it turns out that Adobe PDF was no longer in my printer list.  Who knows why, but problem solved.

Can I ask how you fixed it?  We are trying to covet to pdf a1 size from magnet and now doesn't work..
